The Inn at Otter Crest, Otter Rock

not a bad place to stay if you like black mold and dirt, dont mind people listening at your door...even peeping into your patio door, getting run over by rude and incompetent staff who cant seem to speak any english, bugs in your bed and spiders in you room...and you have to walk a long ways to get to your vehicle....the beach, peaceful if you can find the privacy to sit down and not be bothered more than five minutes....for the price a hotel is cleaner and safer

Right on the ocean, great location and scenery, walk to beaches and tidal pools, property is lovely, clean. Pricing of rooms was fair for all the amenities. Would recommend if not looking for fancy accommodations. We loved the place and found it the nicest, quietest, most beautiful place we have ever stayed on the Oregon coast.

I do not think it unreasonable to expect a certain level of comfort and service. That said - if all you plan to do is collapse into bed at night - then by all means stay here. In our case the bathroom had mold & the mattress was old. None of the furniture matched. The decor looked as though it had been collected from Goodwill's reject pile. We were told that it was not possible to be transferred to another room because all units were individually owned & the owner had already been given the credit for our stay and it could not be transferred. The resort does not seem to have any minumum standards for renting out the units. I will be very careful in the future to make sure that I never go to resort websites to rent vacation stays without verifying that the following: a) who owns the units (individuals or the resort); b) will allow you to change rooms that are not acceptable; and/or c) has acceptable minimum standards for rental. Be warned that the dining room is opened & closed on days with no logic. AND the lounge is closed on weekdays - one would think it should be open 24/7 considering the conditions.

Booked a banquet room 4 months in advance and hotel called 1 week before event and cancelled. We had paid for the room ($400). They just left us high and dry. We had a written contract. I am looking into legal action. WOULD NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My fiance and I stayed here the weekend of 9/28/07. The mini suite w/kitchen, fireplace and VIEW was awesome. Nothing like waking up from a nap and the first thing you see is the ocean. Staff was very helpful. The walls are a bit paper thin, we had neighbors complain because our TV was too loud. (OOPS!) Lots of people there but you hardly ever see them due to the strategically placed condo's. We loved it so much we are thinking of having our wedding there in the Spring/Summer! If you are looking for perfection, don't. The condo's are owned by different people and we got lucky -ours was well maintained. I think you have to find one you like and remember it for your next visit! The staff is willing to let you look around at different ones. Staff: thanks for the great weekend and service!!

If you are going to the Inn at Otter Crest and are expecting the Waldorf-Astoria its not. The Hotel is ok but with great grounds and amazing views. Remember your getting a condo with a full kitchen. Not bad for the price.We have kids so that was perfect for us. The real gem is the Flying Dutchman Resturant and the Wedding Banquet Hall. For a smaller venue this place packed a punch. I had a great time and for the first time at a wedding I noticed the food. The Staff was amazing. If anyone needs help with anything there go to Job York in the Catering Dept. He is adorable and took care of every need my friends (the bride) family came up with. Literally no stress. Jeff who helped us at our table and looked like Job's brother was equally wonderful. I told my husband we needed to come back. I wish our wedding had been there 4 year ago. Just a great great time. Thanks again to everyone there.

I live out of state but always return around Mother's Day to treat my mom to a nice little get away to the Oregon Coast. I had always heard great things about The Inn at Otter Crest. But when we arrived it was horrible the girls at the front desk were very rude and just expected that you know how to get around. My mother is disabled and can't walk alot the terrain is up and down the lock on the door did not even work,the smoke alarm kept going off in the room there were stains all over the floor. My mom needless to say was very upset so was I they stated when I booked the room that their would be chocolates on the pillows and made it out to sound very nice. THE PLACE WAS A DIVE!!!

We stayed in one of the Studio units that had a kitchenette and bedroom. The view faced the ocean however it wasn't as good as the price suggested. The grounds are well kept, quiet and relaxing. We felt that the room was clean but very outdated for the price. It felt like we were on holiday in 1977.

First thing we noticed was how the natural setting was maintained throughout the grounds. The 135 units are placed around Otter Crest with ocean vistas, yet they don't seem crowded onto the 35 acre property. The coastal mountains meet the ocean cliffs here but the highway does not. Cars are kept out but the staff are there quickly with an electric cart to ferry you to your unit. Watch the resident and migrating whales and observe chitons and seastars inhabiting some of the best tidepools around just steps from your door. Find the permanent seal population on any given day. Walk the beach to the Devils Punchbowl and have a cup of clam chowder at Mo's or dine at the 'Duthchman' on site. We were so taken we reseached several units and bought a 1/8th seashare of a big loft apartment on the third level. We now have 45 days a year for life. If you enjoy quiet casual atmosphere great staff and the best views on the Oregon Coast this is the place for you!

We were first given the wrong room but it was fixed immediately. Room was great and we had a wonderful time on the beach watching the seals and whales as well as the tide pools. We can't wait to stay again. We live in wisconsin and will be back again this year!
