Gearhart by the Sea is situated on the Northern Oregon coast only 15 miles south of the mouth of the Columbia River in the heart of the Sunset Empire. It is located a short 83 miles from the big city of Portland but an eternity away in terms of quietude and tranquility.Gearhart by the Sea has four separate buildings. The central structure is the huge, towering Gearhart House. To the north is the smaller but still imposing Pacific View. Scattered below on the oceanside are the Pacific Palisades and Pacific Terraces. The amenties also include outdoor pool, parking, and fitness center.All units have an ocean view.

Would not go back

There are condo units, so each is owned by a different family. The one we stayed in didn't look to have an update since it was built in the 60's. It smelled bad! For the price it wasn't worth it. Will look to stay somewhere else next time. The location is great right on the beach. That was the only good part.

We Won't go Back

Blinds didn't work so view obstructed - we go to the coast for the invigorating and relaxing view. Sliding Glass door opened only 1/3rd. Sofa bed very difficult to operate. Mold in shower/bath Silverware dirty. Clock and TV remote didn't work. Towels were hard and old. Desk people were rude and unaccommodating. We will stay in Seaside or Astoria or go back to Lincoln City for our coastal visits. Guest book had many complaints from people who'd been there before too, so it's an ongoing problem.

Wish we had more time!

We were so comfortable here. I think it is a great place to stay. We wished we would have planned to stay longer.We are planning to stay there in there in the near future. Our trip was very long,and tireing. When we arrived at Gearhart, it was so awsome to be able to cook a meal and not eat junk food. Over all we would recomend it to anyone. A great deal! But bring your own pillows!

My husband and 2 kids and I recently stayed at the Gearhart for 3 nights. A great community to vacation in. Our little condo was a time share. It was well stocked with kitchen supplies. Had a tv in each room as well as DVD players. Had an older model nintendo with many games for the kids. There was a nice loft with 2 singles for the kids. A huge bed downstairs in a seperate room for us. Fireplace, dishwasher, microwave, lot's of board games. OH! and the pool. And an ocean view from the 4th floor. Also a nice deck with table & chairs. BUT the pillows smelled awful! I covered ours with our beach towels, which we didn't use as there was a heavy mist all three days. But we drove up to Astoria and down to Seaside. Saw the Heceta Head lighthouse and the Astoria Tower (way cool!)My husband liked the golf course and the Sandtrap Restraunt was very good, excellent clam chowder! We will definately go back!
