Poor Management

We are from Portland, Oregon, and reserved this hotel, for the 25 July. 24 hours before our arrival, we cancelled the reservation, because of a child's health problem.
After several discussions, with the manager, Brian, he refused the cancellation and we were charged $269.
1. He was rude and not willing to listen to our personal problems.
2. We were never notified, verbally or in writing that this hotel had a 48 hour cancellation clause.
We are over 50, with 2 children, and have travelled extensively and have never had this rude experience before.
