NIGHTMARE...my purse was stolen from nasty room
By nic, 4/30/12
I moved out of the dump East Liverpool years ago, but had a family wedding to attend here last night so I booked a room. The reception wasn't bad, but when I got to my room I was horrified. It wreaked of filth and there was no way I was laying my head down there, so I made the long drive home. Along the drive I needed to stop for gas and thats when my shiny coach purse that I had left on the stand in the room flashed in my head. I called and had family stop to claim my purse with alot of cash in it along with some pricey and cherished jewlery and personals such as license and cards. No trace of it, management and owners were of no help. My brother said they called the housekeeper that attended to the room down and the toothless wonder admitted to opening the room, and calling in "housekeeping" peeked inside and left because nobody was present. So then, I guess she just stole my purse and didn't clean the room because it was otherwise untouched. I'm a classy, hard working single mother(btw the money in my purse was for my sons prom) and I just can't believe that somebody would take something that doesn't belong to them. More so...I can't believe the owner was of no help...my family does business with them. Filed a police report, but I'm pretty sure thats a ticket to nowhere also:( Don't stay here

A real Dump
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/5/10
We booked our reservations for the 2010 All School Reunion as far back as 2007. We were told at that time they were going to renovate the rooms and add all new furniture. We checked in July 1 2010 and when we walked into our room #117, we were shocked. The room smelled like, cat pee, covered up with Lysol, Fabreeze, peach perfume and orange peelings all rolled into one. There was standing water in front of the air conditioner that had white powder floating on it. The sliding window was wide open hoping to get rid of the smell and it would not close because of the mud build up in the track. There was electrical covers missing on the outlet boxes exposing the wiring. The leg on one of the spacious queen size beds was broken and there were bottle caps and beer bottles under the bed. There was a clump of plaster on the floor that had fallen from the ceiling and a hole in the wall was recently patched because the plaster was still wet. The picture I have just painted for you does not really tell the whole story. The smell can not be put into words. After complaining to the front desk, the air conditioner was changed along with 2 cots that replaced the luxurious queen size bed. More surprise were removed from under the bed. We were at a disadvantage because of the reunions planned for the 4th of July weekend. No other accommodations were available in the tri-state area. For all this luxury we were charged $380 for 3 nights. We had to pay before we checked in and we did not receive an itemized statement. We were told we would get one at check out but the check out lady seemed confused. I guess "Friendly staff" mentioned above is another name for confused. Oh, I didn't mention the sidewalks were roped off because of recent patching. I guess there was not enough time between 5 year reunions to make the safety repairs. I have traveled all over the world and I had to come back to my hometown to stay in such a DUMP.

Wouldn't Stay Here
By Zach, 4/3/09
I have stayed at this hotel about 6 times. It is a great place to eat and drink. The service in the bar is excellent, and the people are very nice. The food is very good too. The rooms, however, are terrible. Run down, dirty, and uncomfortable. I don't know how anyone can stay in those rooms. I feel dirty just being in them. I seriously doubt they will be in business much longer unless they put some money into the rooms like they did with the bar and restaurant.

Where's The Hot Water,Soap and Shampoo????
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/16/07
After reading several of the articles about expecting too much in the way of accomodations, I am wondering if expecting hot running water in the shower is expecting a little too much. Several months ago, I, and some family members stayed at the Motor Lodge only to discover that there was no hot water with with which to take a shower. It was an absolutely miserable experience for all of us. Furthermore, I had to request a bar of soap with which to take my cold shower. In addition to I had to provide my own shampoo. I complained to management and still have yet to hear from them. Expecting too much? At $90 per night, I think not.

hidden treasure
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/9/06
My husband and I stayed the night when we couldn't find accomodations near Mountaineer Race Track. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was, and how delightful the restraunt was. We had a wonderful prime rib dinner with buffet for only $11.99 and a gorgeous brunch buffet on Sunday for only $8.99! The food was fabulous, the employees were super nice and the bed very comfortable. And if you purchase the Sunday brunch buffet, you don't have to check out of your room until 4 pm! How can you beat that? And the prices were so affordable. We are going back Sept. 9th for our anniversary. We can't wait! You will love this hidden treasure.
