Gladstone Inn And Suites, Jamestown

We are local and went to use the pool. Approximately 45 minutes after arriving the maintenance man walks in and accuses me of ripping down a sign that said pool closed and asked me if I could read. I explained to him I did not "rip" the sign down and he didn't believe me and again accused me of taking the sign down. I tried to explain that we paid to get into the pool area, I can read and did not rip down the sign. I also told him he cannot talk to me in this manner and I wanted to talk to a manager. He only then let me know that he was there to clean up glass in the pool (which he seemed mad that he had to do) and again said I shouldn't have ripped down the sign. When the hotel manager arrived, I was livid. She didn't apologize for the man's behavior or the fact that my kids had been swimming in a pool with glass in it for forty-five minutes. As the maintenance man walked down the hallway he again said loudly that I ripped the sign down. Then I yelled "I did not rip your sign down". This was very upsetting to the manager- not the maintenance man's actions-but my yelling that I did not rip the sign down. She was only upset with my outrage over the situation and told me I should not act like that in front of my children. Apparently being bullied by her maintenance man in front of my children was fine. She also let me know that nothing would happen to the maintenance man or to her over the situation even if I contacted owner of the hotel and walked away without a care in the world. Unbelievable!

We took our kids here for a treat. The pool area looks nice, but the staff did not clean the pool area after birthday parties had taken place...there was garbage overflowing, garbage and wet towels all over the place. The pool area where you sit was freezing. The desk clerk was very rude. The rooms were alright, but the service was crappy. The pool was so full of chemicals that my kids had chemical-like burns on their body. Not impressed and will not go back again.

We just held our conference at the Gladstone and it was successful! Great meeting room facilities, good buffet and a welcoming staff. We had fun going around and viewing the different theme suites we were in. Even the standard poolside rooms had nice, comfy beds! Having the Anytime Fitness passes for our use was greatly appreciated. We will be back.

The Gladstone is average. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean. If the sound of trains bothers you, you may want to consider some place else. The restaurant, while in the same building is apparently under diffent management. The manager questioned the fact that I had even ordered when I called to see where my supper was 90 minutes after I ordered. Then she made the waitress call and apologize. I say promote the sweet waitress who apologized sincerly, and offered to do whatever she could to make it right.

it was great!!! i love the bar selections!! the pool was probably the best part of the entire hotel because its was so huge and had the perfect temp!

We always travel through a few times a year with the kids and stay here. The pools okay, the kids love it with a nice size pool and little water slide. The adults sit pool side have a few drinks from the bar and relax!!!
