Scary place. New management and in poor condition.
I stayed at this hotel when it was an Econolodge 8 or so years ago and at the time the grounds were well kept, there were many people staying there, and the hotel was very clean. At that time it was a better than average motel, but affordable. On my recent visit, I could immediately tell that the grounds were overgrown, there were local kids with bicycles allowed to be at the pool, a strange van was doing business in the parking lot, and the hotel was mostly vacant. Upon checking in, the lobby was nice and clean as I remembered it; however after entering and inspecting the first room I found the following problems: on the king bed box spring there was a two foot section that was blood stained as if someone had been shot or murdered on it. It was apparent that an attempt had been made to clean it but it was still obviously disgusting. The sheets contained pubic hair and had frays and showed significant wear. The mattress was old and concave, and the bed graded slightly toward the wall. The bathroom was clean, but there were no towels. The corner guest chair had white stains on the seat that I can only guess were bodily fluids. I don't know why I didn't immediately ask for a refund, but instead asked to see a second room. Though the hotel was mostly vacant, they said they didn't have any more king bed units, so they gave us a key to a room with two double beds. I found the same conditions of the bed (minus bloodstain). The dresser was listing to one side because the supports were missing and an unusable refrigerator was used to for support. The carpet was dirty and stained. The bathroom again was clean but there was a three by 1/2 inch crack in the base of the tub. There were three random large holes in the walls that had been patched with some sort of wood putty, instead of plaster and no effort had been made to recover with wallpaper. Outside the motel there were shady looking characters coming and going constantly. I worried about the safety of my family and our cars in the parking lot. Thankfully, upon explaining the situation to the front desk they offered a full refund and we drove a couple of miles to a new hotel, paying only $10 more a night after traveler's coupon discounts. I would have paid $40 more, not to have stayed there.
