Nice Place
We did enjoy our stay during a very cold weekend in January. Why go the beach during January? We felt a need to see the ocean after moving away from it a few years ago. So we got there and it was really cold, even worse than normal. But we still enjoyed the stay and the staff was part of it. Let me explain.
We picked up "guidebooks" along the way to the area. They offered great things but failed to mention how many places, especially restaurants, close for the winter. My wife asked the front desk about restaurants and they referred us to Mako Mikes. The desk said they had an aquarium that was a hit for kids.
We had seen a place in a guidebook offering a buffet, which we would have preferred. So we drove to the buffet. Only problem it was closed for the off-season. So we relied on the staff and went to Mako Mikes. My two kids spent all of their time when not eating watching the shark tank, and have done nothing else but talk about it since we got home. So the front desk person was on target with the recommendation. By the way, the adult food served at Mako Mikes was 5 star, although we did spend more money than most would do for a meal, but remember it was cold and not much else to do, so we splurged on food somewhat. There were cheaper alternatives on the menu, we just wanted to remember the visit by a gourmet meal.
During winter, the golf courses and kids go kart places close. We didn't locate any indoor minature golf if there is one in the area. There were movie theatres but we didn't travel that far to see a movie. But the ocean view we had was spectacular, and well worth the price we paid for it.
If there was one suggestion I would make, it would be to put a King bed in the master bedroom, and allow the pull down bed which is a full bed in the living room to remain. Currently, there are two full beds, not queens, in the master bedroom, and my skinny 6 year old and me barely fit in the bed. Needless to say, my boy pushed me out of bed in the middle of the night, and my suffering was to pull the full bed down and wake up to the sunrise view of the Atlantic Ocean.
I did also want to note that the continental breakfast room here was worth the visit. It wasn't just a box of dunkin donuts and a coffee pot. You had toast, a variety of accompaniments, coff, oj, and several other options that you would have to be there to see. Well worth seeing.
Overall, a great place to stay.
