Stinks
By Ira, 08/24/09
We liked the Lake and town, but the hotel and its so called amenities were very very dissapointing. The HDTV was out and when they fixed it,it worked for like one hour. When we requested it to be fixed again we were told they could not fix it. It went on like this our whole 5 day stay. Our room was in the basement and damp and dreary. The food was ok but overpriced. The new managment and the TV system need to be replaced.

Wedding Disaster....................
By Edie, 09/04/08
If anyone is looking to hold their wedding at the Sagamore....think twice!! It is so overrated it's unbelieveable. I spent close to $50,000 on my daughters wedding and it was awful! Waiters spilled food on people, the air conditioning was not working (and it was 90 degrees) nothing was the way it was promised. Totally disappointed and I would never, ever recommend it to anyone. My daughter has been married for 5 years now and I still can't look at her wedding album because I cry!

No better place to stay if you go to Lake George
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/18/08
The More you go to Lake George, the more you will stay further away from the Lake George Village and there are no better place to stay than the Sagamore.Few other hotels could offer more activites on site than the Sagamore. They will even get the fishing licence for you if you need one.Watching the firework on July 4th on their big lawn was the grand finale of my stay each year( I have been there for the last five years).I like to stay at the lodge with the kitchen and fire place(the one bedroom),the Bathroom are quite nice. The buffet breakfast is one of the best with egg station.Their food and drinks are excellent.Bolton Landing has better restuarants and shops than Lake George Village and if you choose to cook, a supper market and grocery store with very good breads are just outside the enterance to the hotel(which is on its own island). You can stay on site and never leave and you probably still run out of time or money to do everything or you can venture out and within 15 min to 1/2 hour you can do everything from factory outlets to amusement parks and rodeo.Lake Placid is not that far away and ther are plenty of things to do there too.Algonquin(next to Chic Marina) and Log Jam(by the factory outlets) are not to be missed.I always wish I could stay longer every year.

Best on Lake George
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/14/07
Great place to stay, been there for last 4 July 4th, you don't have to leave there, you can jet ski, wake board, parasail, fishing, sailing, etc on site. Good food and drink.Watch fire work on the big lawn.Wouldn't stay any where else.

Not Worth the Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/06
Here are my thoughts-use them as you may 1) Scenery is beautiful - the lake, the mountains - really nice and peaceful. Nice short walking trail near by, cute town close by etc. 2) The food - just okay - not worth the $80 that I paid for a meal at the pub for 2 (1 drink each, appetizers, dinner)... 3) Staff - just okay again - not the friendliest and certainly not that helpful - the staff to guest ratio was embarrassingly low... (unless you count housekeeping who was banging on everyone's door at 9 in the morning) 4) Spa Services - hit or miss - my husband and I both had two spa services and one was good and one was bad... not worth the money Overall - I would probably not go back... We booked a lakeview room and when we got there, they didn't reserve one for us so we got stuck with a garden view which would have been okay except we didn't get a view of the garden, we got a view of the loading dock area where all the commercial trucks deliver stuff so every morning, and evening, I went to bed to the sound of trucks backing up. Also the salon had a girl "call out" the day before so my pedicure had to get cancelled and my husband was supposed to get reflexology at the spa and the lady gave him the wrong treatment which turned out to be apparently the worst Swedish massage that he ever got... On the other hand, the shop was nice, the bathrobes at the spa were lovely and once again the view and grounds were very nice...

All very nice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/06
Ok, the Sagamore is not cheap and they do add 18% service. But all in all it is a very nice pace to stay: - very good restaurants (excellent breakfast) - spacious lodge rooms (slightly old kitchen area, but still nice and excellent bathroom) - very good access to boat activites and helpful concierge - not too noisy, but not dull Just fine

wonderful experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/06
I have been going to the sagamore for 20 yrs for both busness and family vactions, never get tired of it. The hotel is great, but especially enjoy staying in the lodge suites.the resturants are great, the trillum bist resturant excellent. Its expensive to stay at the sagamore, not for the faint at heart, but well worth the cost,There is not much to dislike about the sagamore.

disappointing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/06
the rooms and general areas have terrible lighting, the childrens' program is now a horror compared to what it was ten years ago, and the only good thing is the fine entertainment, Ray alexander pianist, consistent and first class for 20 years.

Ideal Vacation Destination or Weekend Retreat
By Lise, 02/25/06
The Sagamore is a year-round historic resort located on a private island on scenic Lake George. The hotel features colonial architecture. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The service, restaurants, spa, gym, shops are outstanding. Whether you are a golfer or a skier, you will always find plenty to do at the Sagamore. No matter what season, the scenery is fabulous and enchanting. It is the type of hotel you never want to leave. Sagamore may be pricey, but it is well worth the money.

A Jersey Girl Loves It
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/05
The Sagamore is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. You can stay in the main hotel (nice) or in logde suites, off by the edge of the island, in either a conventional suite or a loft type room. I have been in both, and have no complaints. The Large kitchen in the lodge suites is very helpful with a family, as is the fridge and the flatware and the appliances...its just like home! The only problem I have ever had is with spiders (the lodge suites are right off the water in a woodsy area, with views of the lake) but when we complained they quickly and happily offered to move us to another room, no problem. The shore area is wonderful, with a safe swimming area, and the spa, the indoor pool, the gym, the shops, the resturants...its wonderful. YOu should visit the main town, and see those shops, (especially the Teepee shop) (and the Algonquin resturant!) but the Sagamore is so nice you won't want to tear youself away. I admit, it is pricey, but after all, its called a vacation.
