we loved everything about this hotel the staff were friendly the rooms were spotless the breakfast was delicious and it was near enough to the attractions and yet far enough away from the noise it was a really lovely place for our first time to new york and we would recommend it to anyone going there. hope to go back again some day soon

Would go back tomorrow
By YAK, 11/11/08
Loved the location central park less than 5 mins walk away. The hotel is a bit old but it is clean and very good value for money. You get all the usual things in your room so why pay more for the same things.. You wont be dissapointed

An AWESOME experience!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/19/08
We stayed at the Salisbury for 10 days. Our rooms was very comfy, although the rooms do need a little updating. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The beds were a little firm, but we were so tired at night we slep great. The $4 Continental Breakfast was a great breakfast bargain. The location is truly amazing!Your three minutes away from Central Park, ten minutes away from Columbus Circle, fithteen to twenty minutes away from Times Square and there are some great restaurants close to the hotel I highly reccomend Angelos for a great pizza and pasta.Everything at the Salisbury was GREAT! The only thing I didn't like at the Salisbury were the elevators, they were a bit slow, but that's what you get while staying at an older hotel. If I visit the city again we'll definently be staying at the Salisbury.

Great find in New York
By WebC, 7/7/08
The Salisbury is a great find in NYC. Clean and comfortable rooms. Nice firm beds and surprisingly quiet to me. Breakfast is now $4.00. One bedroom room suite was very nice. Bathroom was small but closets are large. Much larger room than typical NYC hotels. Many subway locations nearby and an easy walk to the theaters.

Brilliant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/30/08
What a wonderful experience staying at the Salisbury. We were a group of three : mum, daughter and granddaughter. We were upgraded to a suite which was really appreciated. Mum had two sisters from Illinois visiting New York also who, unfortunately, could not get a room at the Salisbury however the staff were very accommodating in allowing them up to the room or allowing them to wait in the hotel lobby should we not be there. The staff were very polite and friendly and could not do too much for us. Would definitely return and recommend it to all that want a safe, clean, helpful and very central hotel. Thank you to all members of staff at the Salisbury for an enjoyable trip. Linda & Girls : NW London

Pleasant Stay and Superior Value
By KevinT, 3/22/08
My family of four just spent four pleasant days staying at the Salisbury. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade to a suite "for a little extra room" after noticing my 6'7" height. This was typical of the friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were large (by NYC standards), quiet, and clean. Although an older hotel, all room appliances/equipment worked well, something I couldn't say for many of the newer hotels I stay in on business trips. Excellent location with great access to Central Park and the subways. $4 continental breakfast is simple but abundant. A mix of European tourists, families, and "well behaved" youth groups (visiting choirs from adjacent church). Would highly recommend.

Great stay at the Salisbury Hotel
By beth, 7/1/07
My husband, 2 sons, and I just returned home from a 4 day, 3 night, stay at the Salisbury, and would be very happy to stay here, again. We are particular in regard to our lodging. The Salisbury came recommended to us. This hotel is not fancy, but, our suite was huge compared to NYC standards, very clean, thick walls, beds comfortable, great shower, staff was helpful, and a free breakfast was included, all at a very great price, especially for a family. It is an older hotel. The location is very good with a subway station right on the corner of 6th and 57th. Take the F train up and down town to see alot of the sights. Very good restaurants close by, Rue 57 on corner of 6th and 57th was very good, and great pizza 2 doors away at Angelo's, a Starbucks across the street. The famous Russian Tea Room and Carnegie Hall across the street. Walking distance to the theaters, and Central Park, 5th ave. We ate at Sardi's, a nostalgic restaurant, very good food, and close to the theaters. I highly recommend!

Great value
By ClaireM, 8/14/06
The suites are roomy, however the bathrooms are small. A little awkward. The rooms facing the street are a bit noisy. The $3 breakfast is a good value, but dont expect more than a traditional continental breakfast. Close to subways, shopping, and Times Square. The elevators are very old and slow, however overall a good time at the Salsbury. P.S. Phil the doorman, is very helpful and can tell you where to get the best "pie" in town.
