WE WOULD ALLWAYS GO THERE
By SRETEN, 9/19/10
The location is excellent, athmospher very friendly, everything is very close to you. Walk distance to all immportant turistic locations and subway stations is very comfortable. You don't come to NY to stay in Hotel room the whole day, isn't it. Rooms are small but beds are very good, breakfast is worth of money paid for it, reception stuff friendly and helpfull. Times Square just one step away. What ones may wish more for that price?

Location Location Location
By Mike, 11/30/09
This hotel is in the best location for NYC visitors. The bed was the softest bed I have every slept in. The staff was couteos and friendly. The Lobby, elevators, hallways are all very small and narrow, but our room was decent size. We had a small suite. Was nice enough for what we paid for. Free internet was a plus. Nice tall shower head very nice for a tall person like me. Nice flatscreen tv mounted on the wall. The breakfast however we had to pass on. $14.95 for breakfast seemed to be expensive for a best western, however it is NY and who knows what the other hotels charged for their breakfast. Everything you would want to do is within walking distance of this hotel. Walked to Central Park, Macys, Rockefeller Center. Great Location. Would recommend to the average Joe looking for an above average hotel at a resonable price. It is not luxurios for the high class folks. But you get a nice room, free internet, great bed. What more do you need.

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/9/09
Price was right for hotel near Braodway shows, but service was horrible. We had a backed up toilet which was not fixed for over 12 hours. Only had one towel and no more delivered despoite repeated requests. They were unable to print out a hotel receipt at the end of the visit becuase of computer printer malfunction and typical for them , took them hours to figure out. Concierge was very good however.

Will choice another Best Western
By JIM, 9/8/08
I found the room to be very small! You had to move the table in the room to gain acess to your closet. If you wanted room service forget about it,there is none. Hotel very old and dark.

OK with me
By tomaig, 6/5/08
If you're looking for a place to be pampered with a lot of amenities, this isn't the place for you. It's an older, oddly-angled building and the hallways are quite narrow, as are the elevator doors. But inside the elevator, the walls are a beautiful greenish-swirled marble and gleaming stainless steel. I had a room with a king-sized bed - the room was pretty small but the AC worked, the bed was comfortable and it was clean. The staff I dealt with were friendly enough. And location?! On 48th st, between 7th ave and 8th ave (Broadway). In the adjoining buildings are a Japanese, a Vietnamese, and a Thai restaurants. A short walk to Broadway or 7th ave, a rigorous-but-manageable 15 block walk to the Empire State bldg or MSG/Penn Station. If you're attending a training course at the American Management Assoc. (AMA), this place is great. Literally a three-minute walk from the hotel to the AMA entrance which is great because you can go back to your room for lunch. Not fancy but certainly a value.

Never AGAIN!
By KristineP, 5/5/08
Where to start -- You had to put the key in the door (and attempt to open it) a few times to even get in, once you did...the room was a CLOSET, the bedspread had stains on it, the bed itself was so soft & lumpy it was a nightmare, there was a rooftop bar below us that blasted music until well into the night, everytime someone tried to get into their room, you had to listen to them trying their key. If we hadn't paid what we did, we would not have even attempted to sleep there. The room just did not look clean, the rugs were literally threadbare along the edges. The location was great, that was IT.

Great hotel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/08
It was in a great location. We had a suite which was a large room and the bathroom had a jetted tub and a separate shower. We had a small maintenance problem which was corrected immediately. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our first visit to New York and offered helpful tips on places to dine. The only complaint we had was that the sofa bed was very uncomfortable. Also, they had the worst pillows I have ever slept on. Overall, I would return to this hotel.

Would stay here again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/08
We had a Junior suite w/ queen bed and a sofa bed. Both were comfortable. Heat and both TVs worked fine. Our bathroom, although small, had the best shower I've seen in a hotel in this price range. Big enough for 2 and steam capacity. The room was very clean and we called for a power problem with the TV. A maintenance person was up in 10 minutes and fixed it. We called for extra pillows and they were in the room when we returned from dinner. Location cannot be beat. We also had a fridge in the room so we stocked up on breakfast items and drinks. A big savings in NYC. We visited at Christmas and the lobby was nicely decorated. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Didn't use the concierge service.

A disaster
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/07
The Best Western chain should hang its head in shame! The Best Western President Hotel in NYC is the worst hotel that my husband and I ever stayed in. It was hot and the air conditioning didn't work. Despite reporting this to the front desk, no one showed up or called. The room was barely large enough for one person, let alone two. The television had very bad reception, and again, no response from the front desk. Most frightening was the lack of security. Anyone could have walked in, boarded an elevator, and been lurking in the dark hallways on any floor or stairwell. We checked out the next day and got a large, good/clean room a few blocks away at another hotel. The Best Western needs to get its act together or close this hotel! It's a shame because the location is great for tourists. But there is no way we would EVER recommend this dump to anyone!!

Make this a last choice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/07
I wanted to share our feedback on the Best Western Hotel for you to share with your colleagues and clients. The location is great and the hotel was fairly clean. When we arrived around 12 am the only room left for us was slightly larger that the double bed - not room for luggage or walking to the other side of the bed - concave in shape with a deep dip in the middle. I promptly asked for different, larger room and had to wait to the morning before getting a proper room to live in for 7 days. The second room was fine and except for the loud plumbing, non-functioning AC, strange smell and slightly dipped bed we were ok. The behaviour of the hotel staff was the biggest disappointment. The "concierge" was unpleasant, unhelpful and set on selling tours and packages we were not interested in. At first we thought this must be the rudeness that New York is famous for, but to test the theory we began going to the concierge in a hotel around the block for more information and found a number of staff very helpful. Examples of questions and responses for the Best Western staff include: Where can we find the Metropolitan Hotel, we hear there is a great restaurant there? Check 411 Does the New York Stock Exchange have any tours? No Do you have any suggestions for few notable restaurants in Greenwich Village? There are lots - just go there. Do you have a schedule for the Staten Island Ferry? How is the view of the Statue of Liberty? We were told to call the ferry directly (they were unable to provide us with a contact number so we looked it up in a phone book) and that there was not a good view of the Statue of Liberty from the ferry. She then tried to sell us a City Circle Ferry Tour. (The view from the ferry was superb - she flat out lied to get us to purchase a tour) We asked about the cheap tickets booth for Broadway and she told us that the line was terribly long and that we would not get good tickets for any of the shows we wanted because they were almost sold out for everyday we were available. She then handily tried to sell us the most expensive tickets for a few shows. We found the cheap tickets booth ourselves, stood inline for 30 minutes and got prime tickets for half the price (the theatre for the showing for RENT which we inquired about was only 3/4 full). All of the responses were curt, closed and rude. As I'm sure you can appreciate help from the hotel concierge is key when you get to a new city and the Best Western certainly lacked this quality. It is not like we were paying dirt cheap prices, for $300 per night we expected more and I wanted to share our feedback with you since you haven't had to experience the hotel personally.
