The staff were very friendly and helpful to me and my family.
The grounds that the property is on is probably the most relaxing area I have ever stayed at with a hotel and conference setting (especially when it snowed and watching the deer run across the property.)
It's one of those places that takes family pride in preserving the quaintness of the "castle" like setting of the Beeches but has updated its rooms more recently which was a pleasant surprise from the last time we stayed. I like that they now have micro/fridge combo with coffee makers in the room. The breakfast room is nice and convenient, could use a little updating itself and the french toast is not anything like how mom makes it. It's probably the bread they use. We have stayed in both the King suites for shorter stays and the extended rooms for longer stays. The extended rooms are really nice for longer stays because it has a separate living room area and full size kitchen, which is great when you actually want to make some homemade meals. The restaraunt at the Conference center is lovely, called Michelina's. The fire place was very relaxing and the wall that separates the bar from the restaraunt keeps out the noise from the bar so you can actually have a normal conversation with your party. The bar has a big TV screen in it but it could use a nice size and updated flat screen to improve the decor. The bar definitely has a "Cheers" like atmosphere to it and you can order from the menu in there as well. Then there's the food!!!!! All I can say is "WOW!!!" Whether you are eating at Michelina's or the Savoy in town, you will not be disappointed. I am very picky about Italian food after having been to Italy twice. These chefs do an awesome job and should be proud of their collaborative effort to put out fine food. Whether it's simple finger food or my favorite, Chicken Parm, my family enjoyed all of it. The only things I could think of that might spruce up the place a bit is, put new carpets down, update the bathrooms at the bar and improve the lighting in the bar...it seems a bit outdated and some simple warm tones in the lighting department would be nice. All in all, my family and I will continue to return here, whether it is to stay at the Beeches Inn or just go to dinner at the Savoy, when we are passing through town. By the way, I forgot to mention one of the most important things. The weddings that the Beeches put on are beautiful!!! One of the weddings we attended was like being at a winter wonderland...so lovely and quaint. The atmosphere, the friendly staff at the Beeches and the hotel were very nice. My family looks forward to the next time we have the opportunity to stay at our favorite place in upstate New York.
