Great Hotel
By ,
It was a great hotel, I stayed there a few nights. I paid for most of it with a free gift card that I got from ESPN. I think they're still giving them out at nflgiftcards.info, hurry before they run out!

lleaking ceiling
By ,
I stayed in this hotel in July 2007. I received a great rate and was guaranteed a renovated room. The room was modern and beautiful. It was very clean until the ceiling started to leak (not in the bathroom) but in the bedroom. It leaked at night and then leaked again in the morning. I think it was from the bathroom above. I was given no refund even though I spoke to the clerk upon check out. I also mentioned the leakage problem on the check out survey. I received an apology via e-mail but no refund or other offer of accommodation. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

The Worst!!!!!
By ,
THE WORST!!!! Just got back from a miserable weekend at this hotel. First our plane was delayed (whole other story), even though we called ahead to the hotel 3 times to say that we would be late, they gave our city view room away by the time we checked in. There was also no one out front to help us with our bags (in the rain of course) when we arrived and only one clerk at the front desk (actually in the whole lobby) and it took her about 5 minutes to acknowledge us. When we finally attempted to check in, the clerk "Georgia" was so confused, she kept mumbling something about trying to find our paperwork and then finally showed us another person's reservation. When we asked if we could possibly finish this in the morning she became belligerent and after we requested assistance from the asst banquet mgr on call (the only other employee around) we were given a park view room below the tree line. So, more like a street view room for our $600 a night including all of the car and truck noise, yelling and horns. There's actually much more including maintenance issues which forced us to relocate to another room the next day (we moved our own bags because we got tired of waiting over an hour for the promise that someone would bring them to our new and much smaller room) with just a breakfast offered for compensation. The hotel was recently remodeled and we ran into seriously scarey safety problems directly related to those changes. I would give them the benefit of the doubt if it was just one incident and one person we dealt with, but the magnitude of incompetence was too much to ignore. Buyer beware. There are much better choices in NYC and we will not make this mistake again.

Great location and service.
By ,
As to other hotels in the same area, Central Park South, this is by far better in value. The service is up to the Ritz's standards. The Botanica Cafe offers a nice breakfast buffet and great sunday brunch. We could not attend the Alain Duccasse restaurant. Our room had a frontal view of Central Park as requested. The hotel is undergoing renovations by the new management, which sounds nice for future visits. If we go back to NY, this is our first option.

Excellent experience for first trip to NYC!
By ,
The location was great. We were able to walk everywhere from here. Central Park right across the street and Times Square about 10 minutes away. Everyone in the hotel was nice and helpful, the room was always clean, and the beds were so comfortable.

We love NY and Essex House
By ,
Staying at The Essex House was a wonderful experience for us on our trip to New York. The staff, including the front desk employees, the concierge, the doormen, housekeeping, and the security employees were all very helpful from the time we got there until we left seven days later. The hotel is in a beautiful area, next to Central Park. Some of the activities that we did were far away and we had to walk a while, but that's what you do in New York, right? It was exciting to ride up on the elevator with an actor who was staying just down the hall from us. It was overall a great place to stay. We look forward to our next trip to the city so we can stay with them again. Very nice place!

Awesome Place - would stay again
By ,
Excellent location, rooms very clean and good size especially for NYC. The heavenly bed was truly that! The hotel staff was helpful, except for the concierge who seemed annoyed when we asked her for some dining recommendations. We found the security staff and the bell staff to be the most helpful and often they would ask us what we wanted to do and provided great advice that made our trip even more enjoyable.

A great hotel
By ,
The Westin Essex house exceeded my expectations on all levels. The heavenly bed was truly heavenly. It was difficult to get up in the morning sometimes because this bed was so divine. The location was outstanding and convenient. Convenient to subways. The doormen and all staff were most friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. The bathroom was spacious and clean, complete with spa robes and quality amenities. I would definitely go back to this hotel.
