You get waht you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/09
This is a bad hotel in a great location. I'm a big man. This past weekend, I needed a cheap Rochester hotel for myself. It was perfect for me, but I'd never take my wife or kids there. The room decor and television are out of the 1970's. But for the price I'd do it again.

Average Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/08
The East Avenue Inn is a good Hotel but has very little ammentities. You get a clean room, a bed and T.V. They have added Wireless Internet since my last stay and I was able to log on easily. A very good place to stay if you are on a tight budget. The cheapest Hotel rates in Rochester and is in the best location. Will stay again!

You get what you pay for
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/23/07
The location is it's only positive feature. The "jr. suite" we reserved was very outdated, the king bed was hard as a rock. The bath room was not cleaned prior to our arrival. The shower had no water control and would go from scalding hot to freeeezzzzing cold. We contacted the front desk staff to report our issues and there was no one on duity to answer the phone. The next morning we had to go to the Front desk and the staff was very rude and would not contact a manager to resolve issues.

What A DEAL!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/07
When I first pulled into the parking lot, I thought I was in trouble! The building looked old. Once I walked through the front doors, my whole impression began to change. The staff was very nice. The rooms were very clean. The location is one of the best in town!! The most impressive was the wireless internet. I gave a briefing to 24 local businessmen in the conference room via our companys web site and all went very well. I did have to pay $8.95 for the wireless internet (the fee for all day usage) but it was worth it because of the cheep room rate. VERY IMPRESSED and will stay again on my next business trip!!

Fine for the Price
By Victoria, 11/7/06
As mentioned by the other reviewers this is a no frills operation. I would liken staying at the East Avenue Inn to staying with an elderly relative - they are able to keep up with the day to day cleaning (our room/bath were both spotless), but the maintenance has gotten away from them (outdated fixtures/decor/possibly some Code issues). Centrally located for Museums, boutiques, restaurants and shopping. We would stay here again for an overnight or weekend trip, but for a longer visit or if we were travelling with kids we would probably upgrade to a full service hotel.

Not a pleasant experience
By Laura, 2/9/06
I don't know how some of the other reviewers found this to be a nice place. The motel smelled very bad, the decor was really terrible, and the rooms were barely tolerable. I found the service to be okay: they were reasonably nice, but had no idea where to go to eat and had very little knowledge of the area. I was also quoted a different price from what I was eventually charged. They lowered it some when I mentioned it, but I think it is tacky to pull tricks like that. Overall, I was NOT impressed and would not stay there again... it wasn't worth the cheap pricetag.

Repeating for the third time
By Ajay, 10/8/05
I liked most the serivce. Staff is very very helpful. Stayed two times when it was Days Inn. Now it no more Days Inn. Room are clean and basic. Though they are missing some important things like broadband connections, breakfast but still good choice to stay.

Best Located Hotel in Rochester
The rooms are clean, yet very basic--no hairdryers, irons or refridgerators in the standard rooms, although the helpful staff will provide them upon request. Ample parking. However, this hotel's primary advantage is its location. It is located in the east end area, which is probably the primary nightlife area of Rochester. One is also a 5-10 minute walk from a variety of restaurants, mueseums, galleries, and boutiques. So, if you are visiting rochester, and you wish to explore its more interesting elements, you should stay here or the Strathallan, a very nice, more upscale hotel that is slightly farther away from the nightlife elements.
