Shabby Chic Takes on a Whole New Meaning
Ok, I have to say that for a room in NYC, the Urban Suite is enormous. Too bad it was also pretty gross. When I arrived, there were stains on the furniture, crumbs on the floor, dirty walls, and the air conditioner didn't work. The front desk staff was wonderfully nice, but too bad they couldn't also take care of the rooms. I expect a lot from the W chain and run-down furniture and dirty rooms just isn't it. Perhaps if I'd kept the lights as low as they were in the entry and the hallway I wouldn't have noticed....
If you want a huge room and aren't too particular about cleanliness, then this is the place for you. But if you, like me, find paying almost $300 a night to clean up your own stuffy room after the maid leaves a bit too much, then skip this hotel. Chic, maybe. Shabby, most definately.
