Don't book it!

When I first checked in, my room was not at all as represented by the website. It was dirty, threadbare, un-renovated, and very warm. I turned on the air conditioner and waited for the room to cool. It didn't. I called down to the front desk and asked to be moved. They said they would call me back in five minutes. They didn't. After calling three times, I found out that a number of rooms were without air, as there was some sort of electrical problem. Not only that, but there wasn't a manager on duty and the front desk person wasn't sure what they were authorized to do for guests in this situation. But, they were working on the cooling problem with the maintenance person and would call me back. Once again, they didn't. After two more calls, I was moved to a suite in the other tower which was much cleaner and cooler. Of course, the Internet access didn't work. If it hadn't been so late at night and if the front desk hadn't declined to refund my money, I would have gone somewhere else instead. This place certainly wasn't worth the trouble for the price...or for any price. At the time I booked there were lots of hotels available in the same price range and, while they might not all have been historic landmarks, I'll try one of them next time.
