BEST WESTERN Pine Springs Inn, Ruidoso Downs

I'm not a complainer- the TVs here are old, and the internet is very shaky- but these are minor issues. The big issue is management. A close inspection of reviews will reveal that the management has problems. When it is missing towels, or failing to clean the room, it is not so dire- however I was charged twice for my room, and weeks later it has still not been corrected. The manager is often not in the office, and seems to come and go as she pleases. The staff has admitted to me several times that the charge is a mistake, but the manager has yet to correct it. When I call, I am often told she is off-site, but no one seems to know if or when she will return. Charging a customer twice and not fixing the problem is akin to theft- so, while the location and the rooms are fine, if a bit dated, the errors and problems with management are serious. Maybe nothing will go wrong... but I don't recommend the risk.

Pros: Larger rooms than most motels; More TV channels available than most motels; Wi-Fi; Fridge & Microwave in room; Quiet location; Located right across from Ruidoso Downs & Casino, Wal-Mart is not close by everyone's standards but it is possible to walk to if stuck without a car; Queen beds rather than double beds; Decent free breakfast; Clean rooms. Cons: Strict check-in time of 4pm; In-Room movies not available; Most rooms are located facing the parking lot (not the scenic picture displayed in the ad); Beds a little on the hard side; Bathroom is poorly designed with the toilet located too close to the door/wall; Located on a hill which might be difficult to drive up during snow/icy weather; Older motel. Overall... Not completely worth the money, but most people probably would be satisfied. I really like the location and size of the rooms, but probably won't stay there again due to not being able to check-in before 4pm.

Delightful atmosphere, especially for romantics. Quiet, high quality, clean. Noelle and Elyse are excellent hostess. Lots of nice details such as fresh cookies all day long, excellent breakfasts, and an outgoing, friendly staff. Accross the street from the race track and casino.

Our reservations were completely messed up and when we tried to cancel because of their mistakes they told us that they would and then charged our credit card anyway. They had dirty floors and dirty walls. Save yourself the hassle don't stay there.
