5 reviews for Kenilworth Inn, Kenilworth
Avoid this property
By Jack, 01/12/10
I visited the Kenilworth Inn for a family gathering. We chose this property both for the convenient location and because of positive online reviews. It just shows you how wrong you can be. My room was okay, although somewhat dingy and worn, and the climate control was pretty bad. On the other hand, due to the lax security in the property--no security cameras, multiple unsecured doors from the outside to the guest areas--one of our party was robbed and her purse stolen. Two other family members found extreme problems with filth, like stained pillowcases and a bath towel with a previous user's body hair all over it. Out of the seven rooms we occupied, two were comped--one for the robbery, one for the filthy towel. Still, this was hardly an adequate compensation for management's gross failures. My advice: stay away.

To Be Avoided - Unsafe and Unclean
By Darlene, 01/12/10
**Some amenities listed on Yahoo! are not actually at hotel. On the recommendation of the family we traveled with we stayed at the Kenilworth Inn and after our experience there we never will again. Due to their lax security (no cameras and the exterior doors unlocked all evening) my aunt was mugged INSIDE the hotel hallway just outside my room. Her purse was stolen, her hand injured, and the assailant had been prowling the hallways for over an hour waiting for an opportunity. At one point he was in the lobby holding the door for others. According to the police, a purse snatching with the same MO happened 3 months ago and the hotel hasn't changed. After this incident the hotel staff wasn't helpful to my aunts piece of mind - when she asked why they didn't have cameras the desk clerk said "I don't know, I just work here." To add insult to injury, after a HORRIBLE night's sleep on an old, uncomfortable bed all I wanted was a hot shower. I got one, but after drying my body off I went to pat my face with the towel I'd pulled down from the shelf and it had someone else's body hair matted into it and two yellow stains... it hadn't been washed. Apparently one of my other family members also turned down their bed to find two stained pillow cases. When they called the front desk for replacements one of the two that was brought up to them was also stained! (You'd think they would have looked them over before bringing them upstairs) They comped my room based on the towel incident... but that feels like too little, too late.

A very pleasant hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/25/06
I have stayed at the Kenilworth Inn at least 30 times, and have no complaints about it. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. Also, the hotel is in a prime location, 15 minutes from the Newark Airport and 1 minute away from the Garden State Parkway. I believe that the hotel was completely renovated a few years ago, and it shows. The lobby is airy and quiet. There is a very small bar that serves food until around 8 p.m. There is no room service, but they provide a list of local restaurants that deliver take-out. On Sundays they do a very good brunch off the lobby. The Inn is also a popular spot for parties and weddings (very often, blocks of rooms are rented just to partygoers, which can get noisy, but again, the staff is helpful). They have an outdoor pool that is open in the summer months. In fact, they offer "day rates" where you can rent a room for a day just to take advantage of the pool. The rooms themselves are very nice. Most have a coffeemaker and mini-fridge, and all have desks. The Inn offers efficiencies for long-term stays, which have a larger kitchen area (with bigger fridge, a microwave, and sink) as well as everything you'd find in a typical hotel room. They also have 4 suites which are quite nice: a very big bedroom with a TV, and then a separate living area with kitchen, dining table, couch, desk, and another TV. The rates are quite reasonable for a suite. I highly recommend this hotel!

Home Away from Home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/05
I have to travel to visit my client several times a year and always stay at the Kenilworth Inn. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable, it is easy get to from Newark and right off of the parkway. The Keniworth is the perfect set up for the traveling business person who is looking for a place to relax, enjoy a quick meal, catch up on paper work and get a good night's sleep. I always look forward to returning to the North and seeing the welcoming staff at the Kenilworth Inn.
