FREEZING AND UNFRIENDLY
By Nenia, 2/1/12
We waited over 45 minutes to check in (and it wasn’t because they were busy). Upon finally being helped, we were informed that despite having made the reservation with a credit card online, we could only pay in cash. We were sent 4 or 5 miles down the road to an ATM to take out money for our stay. The very rude clerk didn’t even offer an apology for our inconvenience. When we finally got into our room, the heat was off. The temperature outside was -3 and our room was no warmer. It was as if they weren’t expecting guests, despite our reservation. Even after we cranked the heat, the room never got warm. The woman at the desk made it clear she didn’t want to be bothered with helping us, and that included giving us our ski passes that were supposed to be included in the room. And after all that, they still charged my credit card. When I called to dispute it, the woman seemed completely put out to have to help me. Worst experience at a hotel I've ever had.

IF YOU'RE GAY, DONT STAY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/10
Upon checking into this lodge, my wife and I, we are a same sex couple, were questioned if one bed would truly be appropriate. After showing us to our room. Priscilla said the management would feel more comfortable with us using the side entrance to come and go. Once we entered the room, we were hit with a musty, mildewy smell and inquired if the air conditioning unit would dissipate the smell. I turned on the air and was pushed aside and told not to put it so high. Priscilla then told us we could leave. Then she demanded we leave or she would call the police and have us arrested for trespassing. I asked her to return to the room will validation of a refund to our credit card. She arrived back at our door with her father, the owner, drunk and screaming and yelling that he did not want our kind to stay at the hotel. "who plays the king and who plays the queen" he wondered. "I dont want your dirty money here" he continued. Walking out of the hotel room, still with no refund, Priscilla took a swing at my wife's head, and was told "dont you touch me." Priscilla responded with, "dont worry i wont touch your ugly queer self and catch your disease. I immediately called 9-1-1 and was connected with the Jackson Police Department. Upon learning of my location, i was told to leave the building and lock myself in the car if necessary while i wait for the police to arrive. Sargeant Sean Cowland arrived and treated us with the respect and kindness we are used to in this area of NH. He arranged for us to receive accomodations at a very favorable rate, especially for a holiday weekend, and a refund of our payment. A formal police report, including written statements, was logged in and we are contemplating filing charges against these people for the violation of our civil rights in the form of a hate crime.

We can't Wait to go back!
By Cindy, 6/1/10
My and my husband stayed here during the fall season and it was wonderful! Our beautiful balcony view room really showed off the gorgeous fall foliage, and I got some great shots with my camera. The prices here are the most affordable, seeing as we called around. The rooms are spacious and convenient with small refrigerators and quality bedding. Definately coming back again! Thanks!

Wonderful Expiernce
By Brit, 4/6/08
After driving four hours to get to storyland because of traffic we arrived late, we went in to storyland but did not have much time. They gave us passes to return the next day so we decided to find a place to stay. We found the Covered Bridge Motor Lodge. The people were very friendly and went out of there way for us. We were cooking and it started to rain the owner came down with an umbrella and helped with our food. Ifelt very comfortable there and plan on going back. I have told all my friends about this place. Never have I ever seen such geniune thoughtfulness in any place I have ever stayed. Thank you for making our stay rememberable. Also two of my grandchjldren have the last name Ellis so they were excited to see your sign that says ellis river.

Wrong Owner
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/18/08
This motel is in a great location, the price is not bad, although it could have been a little cleaner. But there's something off with the owner. I felt like he was just stalking us the entire time. Every time we turned around he was there watching. He also does not like teenagers. I saw him drool over a family with a couple of small kids. My two kids (age 12 & 14) were in the pool. He came down to our room, ranting about the noise, and doors slamming, blaming it on the kids. I told him they were in the pool. He basically accused me of lying and said, "Well, there's no one else checked in down here." I could see why.

Should Not Be In Hospitality Business.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/07
We were in Jackson for a wedding. We helped our son check in for his stay there. After bringing in his luggage we sat out on the porch of his room. The owner came up to our son and told him he did not want anyone who was not a guest staying there. We replied with the truth that we parents were staying elsewhere. A few minutes later our daughter and son in law called on the cell to say that they were stopping by on their motorbike to see their brother. Our son went out to greet them. They did not even get off their bike. As they were chatting, the owner approached them and told my son that he wanted him out of his motel immediately. He was ranting and raving about how people take advantage of his business, etc. which had nothing to do with my son's stay there. This gentleman was totally irrational. The place was a dump anyway. My son's allergies started kicking up as soon as he got into the room. The room had a mildewy, musty smell and the carpet and furnishings had not been upgraded in years. As bad as that is, that can be overlooked if the people running a business are nice, friendly and accomodating. If you are in the the hopitality business you should at least be hospitable. That was not the case with this owner. He is an excellent example of how not to treat your customer. I would not recommend anyone to stay there. Jackson is a great place to visit. The Covered Bridge Motor Lodge is a major blemish for the tourist trade there.

Do Not Stay Here!!!
By Shelby07, 8/20/07
The owner was incredibly rude and unpleasant. We came to Jackson for wedding (PS - Eagle Mountain House is WONDERFUL). One of the guests stayed at Covered Bridge and was thrown out because we stopped by to visit him ( 2 responsible adults) and chatted with him in the parking lot. He was utterly irrational - rather scary.

Quaint Riverside Rooms
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/30/06
This is a cozy hotel in a wonderful location across from the Red Fox Pub. Do you hate putting your child in and out of the carseat? You can walk to downtown Jackson from this lodge and head across the street for prime rib or the all you can eat breakfast buffet on Sunday mornings. There is a playground in the back yard for kids as well as a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. The owners make us feel like family when we return each season. This is a gem, and the price is reasonable, too!!

Great Experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/06
We had a great experience at the Covered Bridge! It's a beautiful spot on the Ellis River and is conveniently located near many of the activites in the White Mountains. Alex and his family made our family comfortable and helped make our stay very enjoyable. We're looking forward to our next trip to the White Mountains and staying at the Covered Bridge!
