Never Again
The woman checking me in was so friendly. She showered me with coupons and promotional stuff. I started out with a good feeling, as I had never stayed here before. Once I got in the room, I realized that the majority of the coupons had expired. I prepaid the first night on the website, and upon check in was asked to prepay the second night in full. Strange, but whatever. I was with my boys, 13 and 22. We wanted to see what movies were available on their tv, but when we checked the movie menu, it said to contact the front desk. Was told that I would have to pay $100 deposit before I could watch a movie... Before I even get to see what the selections are??? The lady on the phone told me she could tell me all the movies over the phone, but there were alot, around 3 pages worth. Are you serious? So my son had to go down to the front desk to get the list. We were on the 24th floor. Easier said than done. Through the whole casino. He came back with only the first page. After an hour and a half, we gave up the idea. The boys decided to go up and do the rides. It was a slow night, and they were trying to shut down the rides early. The people up there were so rude to my boys. In their words, they are "over" the Stratosphere. The prepaying for everything is awkward and extremely inconvenient to the guests. We wanted to have lunch at the pool. Walked all the way there only to find out that the restaurant was closed. A heads up would have been good, considering the distances between everything. The room was clean, big bathroom, plenty of towels, but no ventilation. Stifling. For the first time ever, I paid for a hotel room that I didn't end up staying in. My kids and I unanimously decided to just hit the road back home to Orange County. Of course, I couldn't use their tv check out service, because we were leaving early! We thought to eat before we left Vegas, so we ate at Lucky's there at the Stratosphere on the way out. Oh my God, the service was terrible. Hardly any customers, extremely slow service. On the way out, I overheard some of the employees complaining about their jobs to each other. The food itself was good, but not good enough to ever want to eat there again. Next time, I will try someplace else. Upon checkout, I made some general complaints, and the lady helping me had an immediate response to everything, as though she has heard it all hundreds of times before. Their occupancy rate was 98%, so they really didn't care. The general area is pretty shady. We got accosted for money 3 times when we were getting gas in our car at the gas station next door, and witnessed a drug deal in front of the apartments across the street. My advice? Spend a few extra bucks, and find something a little further down the Strip.
