End of summer getaway!
By Lynda, 10/1/10
We arrived on a Wednesday around 1pm and we were check in immediately, the staff was very friendly. The location was no more than 6-10 from downtown St. Louis. The swimming pools indoor & out were wonderful. The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. Kids eat for free from the kids menus was an added bonus, milk & cookies everynite at 8pm was a nice touch. We will definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel for family of four
By travelingwithwife, 8/18/09
Took my wife and kids for a getaway to Saint Louis. Did not know where to stay. Had a coupon through Travelbuddy that allowed us to stay there for $49.99 a night. Our room was clean and everything worked just fine. If you like big fluffly pillows this is your place. If you like flatter less filled pillows, bring your from home. Since we are a Priority Rewards Club member, we received four bucks off the breakfast buffet for one adult (the kids eat free). The breakfast buffet was awesome! The service there was great! I know that others have free breakfast buffets but this was quiet and relaxed and I was able to see the weather forecast on the TV from the local news channel. The bisquits and gravy and the bacon were the best! The next night we had no place in mind to stay and my wife said, "Let's go back to Holiday Inn that we stayed at last night." Is that a recommendation or what?! This time I and my two boys swam in the pool while my wife was enjoying the whirlpool where she wanted to go to sleep she was so relaxed. One suggestion, look in the clean towel basket before getting in the water. There were no towels in the clean towels basket when we went to get one. The men's poolside washroom was clean, too. Again, my wife wanted to go back to the restaurant here for breakfast again. Again, it was great! The desk staff was nice and curteous. Lots of restaurants in this area of town (from fast food to the Olive Garden). If you don't need to be next to the arch or Forest Park, save some money and try this Holiday Inn. Remember try Travelbuddy for a coupon for $49.99 a night--otherwise room was $99.00 a night.

Way over priced !!!!!
By tuesday, 5/29/09
My husband and I recently visited St. Louis he was raised there, so we went to revisit old memories. The 1st night there we stayed here one night $135, just for the 2 of us!!!! The room was on the 4th floor and when we entered the room the smell of cat pee would knock you down!!! I know pets are not allowed but house keeping should of smelt something. So when I complained we were given another room. Which was very nice and clean. The next morning we checked out and went on a search for another place to stay for the remainder of our vacation. Across the road we went and we stayed for 4 nights for $136. The room was just as nice the only difference was that the bed was not as soft. Another thing is at the Holiday Inn reakfast was awful and cost $23 for the 2 of us and at the Oak Grove they have a very have a very good continential breakfast which included waffles, fresh fruit, cold cereal, juice. So I suggest you stay across the road at The Oak Grove it is a much better value for your money.

Treated very well
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/09
My wife and I were on a trip home and decided to stay away from downtown, boy were we glad we did! The staff were kind and courteous, and the hotel room was very clean. We will make sure we stay at the Butler Hill Road location when we come back to town.

Disappointment, outdated, smoke-filled
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/7/07
First, we had asked for 2 adjoining non-smoking rooms. The rooms we ended up with were on the 2nd floor, but above some smoking rooms. Since smoke rises, our rooms had a terrible smoke stench. The hotel did allow us to switch to a wing where there was non-smoking on both the 1st and 2nd floors, so the new rooms smelled alot better. When we changed rooms, we put our luggage on one of the carts on wheels. However, we found out that there was no elevator! I never knew that a hotel in today's time with more than one floor could not offer an elevator. Anyway, the bell person did help us carry our luggage, but we still couldn't believe there was no elevator. The decor was very outdated and dreary. There was dark brown througout the hotel. It didn't make it very nice to be in there, since it was so dark and dreary. There was also alot of smoke coming from the bar area, which was in the front of the hotel. The beds were very soft, and the bedspreads were so stiff, they felt like sandpaper. The bedspreads were also so slick that they slid off our bed at night, which was frustrating. The cleanliness in the rooms was fairly good, and the showers seemed fine. They did try to make us feel comfortable and offered different types of pillows. On our first night, a Thursday night, the hotel was nice and quiet. However, the 2nd night, a Friday night, there were alot more guests, so the Holidome was very noisy. We had young kids, so we had to go to bed early (like 8-8:30pm). There were older kids right outside our windows (which faced the holidome) that screamed into the night. We called the front to complain, and they said, "the guests in the holidome have a right to be as loud as they want until midnight." We thought that was not a very nice response, since we have a "right" to a nice night sleep as well, but I guess the "rights" of the people playing in the holidome are more important than our "rights". The breakfasts in the hotel restaurant were fairly good. The service in the restaurant was mediocre, however. The pools seemed fairly nice in the holidome. Our kids loved the wading pool, even though it was very small. The windows over the pool area were pretty dirty. They could have been washed better. The neighborhood seemed fairly safe and close to the highway. However, it was not as fancy as some other neighborhoods. There was a Burger King across the street, or a smoke-filled "southwest" grill next to the Schnuck's grocery store. At least it was a quick drive down the highway to nicer restaurants. I would not recommend this hotel. Despite the fairly nice, although small, indoor pools, the holidome was so outdated and smelled like smoke that it wasn't very pleasant to be in there. The beds were not too comfortable. I think next time, we'll spend a little more to have a more luxurious hotel experience.

Nice Hotel...but!!
By Tom Lorinczi, 10/14/06
This is a pretty nice hotel. One thing which one must be aware of is its location. One side of the hotel looks out onto I-55 and an off ramp to Butler Hill RD. If you need a dark, and quiet room, MAKE SURE YOU SPECIFY IT! My first visit was very uncomfortable because all I heard was car and truck traffic all night long. If you don't want to hear all the noise from the Holidome, make sure you specify that, also. You know what they say: "Location, Location, Location!!" The cleaning staff likes to knock on doors before 8am. If you wish to sleep in, put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door!! Enjoy!

Great family getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/05
The hotel was easily accessible. Of course, being a Holiday Inn, the kids stayed free and ate free. The hotel staff made a point of giving us a "kid-friendly room" - and it was exactly that. We had a 2nd floor room, with a balcony area just outside our door, which overlooked the "dome" area. The pool was literally down the steps from our room. The location was good - close to shopping, and fairly close to Grant's Farm and, more importantly for the kids, Chuck E. Cheese's.

The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The cleaning service was good and at our convenience. The office was helpful and answered any questions we had about the area.
