Enjoyed the stay

Very clean, close to Madison St and the Capitol. Restaurant was good. Had difficulties with free wireless but the staff loaned me a landline and everything was fine. Very comfy beds!

Won't be back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/02/06
First, the desk person seemed overwhelmed with checking in a person and answering the phone. While under renovation and improvements have obviously been made, there are parts of the hotel where the ceiling has fallen down. The television worked but was about 20 years old. The room had an overly frosted refrigerator that was virtually unusable. Ice machines are in intermittent floors but the one on the floor I was on was not working. The room's lights flickered and felt sticky, as did the phone. They are using a sweet-smelling deoderizer which is a bad overlay to the musty smell that was also encourgered. There was no internet service. Won't be back.

A Great Change
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/06
I took a chance and stayed at this hotel for business. They are undergoing renovations at the present tiime. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The new ownership is making dramatic changes and it shows. New exercise equipment, and friendly staff. Location is excellent and I am glad the hotel is going to be restored. This is a landmark. Great stay...

The experience could have been better.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/05
We were disappointed with the experience. When we reserved the room on Expedia.Com, we we were looking for a hotel that had an indoor or outdoor pool and hot tub. While the description for this hotel had both of these amenities, neither appeared to have been operative for several months. A maid confirmed that the outdoor pool had not been used for at least 2 or 3 years. What disturbed us is that the hotel desk staff seemed to be as surprised as us that these things were not working and said things like "Oh, the soccer team was in last week, they may have broke the jacuzi" and "Well, we usually do not fill the pool until the end of June." We thought this was extremely odd since the tourist season usually begins the 1st of June. In addition, the water main was cut by construction and we were not aware the water was turned off until we called down to the front desk because the toilet was not filling back up after being flushed. The staff were not really very helpful or friendly. We also noticed the hotel appeared to be empty and that there were not very many guests.

Oh well, could be worse.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/05/05
I loved the location. It was convenient to meetings and restaurants downtown. The beds were comfortable. On the downside, the high speed internet, a major reason we chose the hotel, was down. The rooms were small and cramped. The bathrooms didn't have ventilation and my coworkers room was dirty and had mildew in the bathroom. All in all, it was a disappointment. I am scheduled to be there for a conference, not my choice, and I'm not looking forward to my stay.
