Don't waste your time.
It is sad that a nationally respected chain such as Howard Johnsons continues to let a sub-standard hotel like this continue to operate under its name. I have stayed at this hotel a few times, and each time the hotel entrance was nearly impossible to find, the whole place was filthy and the rooms ALWAYS have something wrong with them. (Examples: microwave broken, air conditioner not working, bathroom fan not working or not stopping when turned off, no sheets on the bed, etc.)
BUT BY FAR, it is the HORRIBLE service that makes this one of the worst hotels Ive ever stayed in. When you check in, expect them to have misplaced your reservation and expect to have to argue with them over it to get a room (even if they DO have one open and available). When you request more towels, pillows, or blankets, expect them to not have any extra available (by the way, the pillows are horrible flattened things, not comfortable at all). If you are lucky enough to actually have shampoo and conditioner in your bathroom, expect to be missing something else
soap or tissues for example. If you have the audacity to call the front desk, as the placard in the bathroom suggests, for any items that you have forgotten such as: toothbrush, razor, sewing kit, they will tell you they do not carry such items. Keep in mind too, that while you are dealing with these people they make no effort to hide the disregard and contempt with which they view any request or question.
Then, just to top off your lovely experience, try taking a Seeing Eye Dog up to the Indian Restaurant on the top floor, not only will you be denied service until you threaten a law suit, they will make sure the service is so awful youve got to plead for water refills and are treated with only grunts for replies.
Honestly, go ANYWHERE but here.
