We will NOT be back!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/10/09
I made a reservation 3 months ago for a family suite room 33. I also sent the money in advance for the total they told me ( 255.00) when we got there they said we owed 17.00 for tax. we paid in then was told they gave our room away and moved us upstairs. now I told them on the phone when I made the reservations we had a handicapped man going that can NOT walk so thats why I needed room 33 and they moved us up stairs. the 3 days we were there we never got clean lines and the beds were never made. well they gave us 2 separate rooms.( not even beside each other ) we were NOT happy but the mgr. would NOT be there till monday, and the decent hotels were all full. on monday I spoke with the mgr. Carol she said "what are you complaing about you got upgraded., and I heard you told the girls you won't be back, don't come back I don't care." we told her she was a piss poor mgr. and she said" like I said don't come back I don't care" we left I called the owner she was upset said she would call me back. she did on the the 8th I returned her call she told me" I don't want to discuss right now" and I haven't heard from her since. think TWICE before you make reservations here and CHECK the room for cleanliness BEFORE you pay!!! we have stayed her numerous times in the past with no problems but this year WOW... we won't be back thats for sure

Great Vaule for Mackinac
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/07
My sister and I stayed here last summer. The room was clean and right on Lake Huron. We will go back. Had a great view of a thunder storm at night over the lake.

NOT THE RITZ......but either is the price!!
By visitor, 09/03/07
If you are looking for a convenient spot for the bridge walk....it is acceptable......room was clean, had plenty of towels but no clock radio or hair dryer..check in was friendly!...pool area was clean...nothing posh about this place but it is very acceptable........plus we got a bite to eat at the continental breakfast served in the lobby.....yeah, a new quicker toaster would be nice!

Never Go Here for a Room--- zero stars as far as I am concerned
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/07
First of all they sent us to a room that was aleady booked. The second room was upper section and when my sister opened her sleeper bed on the couch there were cigarette butts and burn marks on the blanket. We called down to front desk and the woman told us we would have to work with her and come get a blanket ourselves and hung up abruptly. The continental breakfast was non other than toast. The next evening there was no blanket in the sleeper and no cover sheet for the bed. The cover sheet was hidden under the other beds pillows. Other people staying there had been transfered numerous times from room to room because "of someones error--as stated by front desk personnel". The last morning that we as we were leaving, the hotel lobby was locked and other tenants were waiting for the continental breakfast---- which means there was no one attending the counter through the night. As we were leaving the next employee drove in asking the people standing outside where the cleaning crew was--how were we to know? She informed everyone that the last shift employee never showed up for work--no excuse for no coverage if anything like a fire or something would occur... think about it? Anyway--dont book here... no one knows English, the phones dont work and there is not enough help. And when we made a formal complaint we were told it was all petty.

We will never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/06
When we arrived at the K Royale it appeared to be nice, a great setting off of the lake. We got in to our room to find that it was a smoking room (we weren't supposed to have one) but due to the fact that we were there for a family reunion we assumed most of the rooms were already taken and didn't push the issue. Then we were pleased to see that we had cigarette wrappers and ashes on the side of one of our beds. When I took my 6 month old daughter to the bathtub I found a disgusting ring of dirt(you know, the ring that gets left after someone takes a bath) that would wipe off easily with the swipe of a wet finger. Not only was the room not clean, but someone couldn't even take the time to put the garbage bag in the garbage, they just put it folded up in the bottom for us to do. And the kicker of it all was that the motel charged over $200 dollars on to a credit card after we paid for the room, it wasn't even the credit card that we paid with only the one we reserved the room with. I understand honest mistakes, but it's been about a month now and the manager has not taken care of these charges. The charges were made in two installments, hmm, wonder if someone was trying to pull a fast one????

same time next year

We loved the location. The fact that you could walk out of your room and be lakeside. The cost was very reasonable for such a beautiful view.

First time ever to leave a motel before check out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/02/05
My husband, myself, our daughter and grandson checked in on June 28 for a three night stay. Upon check in we were told our reservations were for July 5. I told them no I wanted June 28. When they insisted I was wrong, I asked why then I had been quoted the rates for June as they go up July 1. Finally they found adjoining rooms with two queen beds each. Our grandson went to fill the ice buckets but couldn't find the plastic liners. I called to the desk and told them we didn't have any plastic liners. They said they didn't use them. The buckets are plastic so they just wipe them out. They said if he came down, they would give him the kind they use for the waste baskets. We went to the extremely small continental breakfast the next morning. Looked for the plates and were told they don't have plates. We had to balance our "breakfast" on a napkin. There was only one plastic knife for everyone to use for the butter. No other utensils. After breakfast at the K Royale we were made aware that we should have been given breakfast coupons for breakfast at a place called the North Bay Inn. This was because we had bought a package. We had not been given them at check in but were given them for the remaining two breakfasts. We did not use them. After we had slept there two nights our daughter found blood on her sheet at the head board. The first night she didn't even turn that side of the bed down. The second night she didn't sleep at all on that side of the bed and she was not bleeding anywhere. I went to the desk to report this. The person at the desk sent the head housekeeper up. She looked at the spot and concurred that it was blood and also stated that the sheet had never been changed. With this, we loaded up our belongings in about five minutes and checked out. We were not refunded out money for the third night that we did not stay.

Cheap place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/05
It was convenient to the ferry to Mackinac Island and was located right on the beach. The room was marginal at best, but the price was right.
