OLD AND CREEPY!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/07
This hotel is creepy people. And it did not have a warm welcome at all. There were bums on the streets outside digging in the dumpsters. The car lot is more scary! Floors are shut down for god knows what? The manager was RUDE and unhelpful. There's only ONE elevator for 9 FLOORS! and to top it off...it didn't even work when I stayed there. I had to hike up 8 flights of stairs!!!

Big changes
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/06
I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and recently returned. They have undergone major renovations! The lobby is very nice and they are building a coffee shop and restaurant attached to the lobby. The room was very clean and the service was great. They said they were just over half way through the renovations. Some floors were closed off. They offered FREE wireless internet and a nice continental breakfast. Next time I’m in town I will stay there again!

A pleasant surprise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/27/06
Newly redecorated, comfortable and great value. Staff is exceptional and service is really great. Restaurant not open yet, but there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes driving. Close to Detroit, just a hop on 1-75 and we were there in 10 minutes. I would recommend this hotel.

Very Unpleasant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/05
This hotel did not meet my standards at all. It was old and rundown. They had ice machines on each floor but they all were out of order. It was noisy as people constantly slammed doors, all night I heard arguing and screams from one room. Only one elevator worked and it took forever to get to our room. The parking garage was very unsafe. The first room we went to had no hot water, the television did not work properly, and they forgot to cut on our telephone. We were suppose to be there for a week but everytime my husband would go out the front door they would ask him if he was checking out and we had to keep getting our card key activated. It was like they wanted us to leave, it was very uncomfortable!!

Total rave!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/04
I stayed at La Casa on Oct. 8, 2004 and it was nothing like the other reviewer's experience. I was traveling back from purchasing a car on Ebay further north with a friend - two 46-year-old white females - and we were thrilled.

The room was laid out perfectly - there was an ice machine on every floor and we had a quiet and peaceful night. We loved the balcony (smoking room) and the amenities such as hair dryer, shampoo and body lotion. They even had a safe in the room. We only paid $67.00 and some change including tax and they provided a free breakfast of two eggs and your choice of bacon or sausage. We were delighted with the southern-style menu as we are southern girls. In addition, we ordered grits and toast and catfish! It was all wonderful - cooked perfectly to order.

We did not even have to stop for another meal going back down south (Dayton).

Everyone was polite and accomodating - it was clean but not posh - we were not looking for posh on our budget.

This is not the place for you if you are accustomed to 4-star hotels. But if you are tired of the chains and their limited interest in pleasing patrons and if you are on a budget, I can't recommend it more highly.

We were also impressed with the fact that they had a noon checkout and advised that accomodations could be made if one needed a later checkout. Although we were not checking in late or leaving late, we have traveled enough to know that this was something that is often very desirable.

Do not miss the breakfast. These are people who can cook and can cook southern. If you are looking for stale Danish and plain bagels with fat-free cream cheese, don't bother. Go somewhere else and do everybody a favor.
