Garbage dump would be a compliment
By Edith, 8/16/06
Hotel does not even describe this place. Garbage dump would be a compliment. There was urine leaking from the upstairs bathroom and all they did was put towels on the bathroom floor which did not fix the problem. Bathrooms have MOLD on it and tubs floods over. Lightbulbs, airconditioning, MW were not working. Floors, carpets, walls, ceiling, furnitures, appliances are worn and dirty. They did not do housekeeping on our rooms and the front desk girl had to go to the laundry room and wash linens and towels for us to use. She even told us that she would not stay in that hotel even if she was paid to. She also offered us a vaccum cleaner incase we wanted to vaccum our own rooms. The hotel manager, Ester Cooper told us in the morning that she would give us credit for the trouble. We still decided to leave and upon check out found out that she only credited $40 from 1 room and not the 2 rooms that we have. Also, she up the rate of the room $10 and the front end clerk Tanisha was not authorize to correct charges and the manager conviniently made herself unavailable. We tried to call her to correct the bill for over a week after we left, she was always not available and had trained her staff to cover up for her. She never returned calls. Finally, we gave up on her but called the State of Michigan Health Department, the Muskegon Heights Building Inspection Department, State MOLD control, our credit card company and Choice Customer Care who were very prompt in responding. To date we are still looking into following up on the sanitation situation so that others will not fall into this dumpster. Remember, this place is very unsanitary, surrounded by abandoned buildings, very unsafe, and the most uneducated, unprofessional staff you will find. The Comfort Inn on Sherman is a way better place if your prefer Choice.

never going back
By Karen, 8/4/06
This hotel was hard to find. The room really stunk and was dirty. The pool was way to small for the number of people that were in it. There was a sign on the wall in the pool area that read no diving- there should also be a sign that says no jumping! The breakfast was not that great-should offer more items.

Horrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/06
Do not stay at this hotel. We stayed for one night while visiting Michigan Adventure. The facility should be razed! The hotel is dirty, the location inconvenient, the staff unhelpful. The air conditioning was broken, the light fixtures non-working, the paint peeling.

Should Have Stayed Home
By justbrowsing, 4/3/06
This hotel needs major rennovations and upkeep. It was poorly taken care of, so much so that the shower head was pulled straight through the wall of the room. The window was cracked, which made my nice view of the garbage strewn PARKING LOT even worse. They touted wireless internet and then told me when I went to connect on my laptop that they were "fine tuning" the wireless and that it didn't work everywhere in the hotel. There was a closed down restaurant so we had to go out to eat. They didn't even have continental breakfast. The bed was broken on the left side so it sloped downward and the box spring was stained. ( I didn't check the mattress because I just didn't want to know) And don't plan on swimming because their pool facility is broken as well. All in all, I'd give this hotel a negative 1000000! Even the staff looked unkempt. I was sorely disapointed. The only saving factor was the whirlpool in the suite.

Very nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/05
The location was very simple to get to. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The housekeepers were very nice and extremely helpful. The breakfast bar had a great variety of food. The housekeepers also made you feel comfortable and right at home.

Better off sleeping in your car
By JK, 5/6/05
The evening staff seemed disinterested and unprofessional. The room smelled horrible... the odor permeated even the clothes we were wearing! There were no light bulbs in the lamps. The floor was dirty. The vent fan in the bathroom was noisy and ineffective. The "continental breakfast" was a joke with a few stale bagels and a picked over selection of donuts. The only thing they did right was my bill. Choice Hotels should be ashamed of this place. This experience will make me think long and hard before we stay at another of this franchise's locations. We definitely won't be back to this one.

VERY BAD FACILITY
By karen, 8/16/04
Terrible place for choicehotels to have their name on. The facility was dirty, the room was dirty, unkept maintance(room door striker plate missing screws), broken window (glass), coffee maker in room did not work, continental breakfast--Plan on dining out. Trust the reviews and stay away from this facility. I will be reporting to the choice hotels main office.
