The Detroit Metropolitan Hotel, Romulus

The lobby looked upscale and I just needed one night for an early morning flight. The room was marginal but I settled in to get ready for the morning go. 5am turned on the light and saw the bed bugs crawling all over. Out the door in a flash. Now 24 hrs later I have welts all over from these nasty pests. Hopefully none are in my belongings.

We checked in at 9:30pm and as soon as we got to the room it was like something out of a horror film. The walls and celing were really dirty and grimy, it smelled horrible and the bathroom was missing tiles on the floor, tub and celing. We decided to stay because we had an early flight at 7am the next day and didn't have time to go hunting around for a better hotel. The next morning we turned the shower on to find that there was NO hot water......AT ALL!!! I called the front desk and they said that there was no hot water in the whole south wing of the hotel and the girl that checked us in the previous night knew that and should have given us a different room. She said we could change rooms but there was no one to help us move. Since we didn't leave ourselves extra time to take into account that our room might not have hot water we didn't have time to change rooms!! When we went down to check out there was no manager on duty. We still had to pay full price for the room and we've tried to call 6 times a day for the past 3 days to speak with the mnager but everytime we do he's "in a meeting". WE WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN AND WILL WARN EVERYBODY WE KNOW NOT TO EITHER!!!!!!!

I got there pretty late from a really long flight with lots of delays and was hoping I could get a good night sleep. Unfortunately I made the mistake of picking this hotel. Upon checking into the room, I notice the bathroom was not clean and had towels all over the floor. I called the front desk, the response was "Oh I gave you the wrong keys." So they gave me another room, not much better...this is one of the filthiest hotels that I have ever stayed at in my life. It was so disgusting I could not get myself to sleep comfortably...I used towels...hoping they are clean as my blanket. Did not sleep all night...plus it felt really unsafe with people roaming the halls all night. Do not make the mistake of picking this place!

Tried to get a refund after first hour being in hotel. Could not because booked through Hotels.com. No coffee pot in room, coffee in lobby was always empty. Pool area was rundown and the whirlpool was the same temperature as the pool. No hot water in the locker room. Fitness center all 3 treadmills were broke, TV did not work in the fitness center. Game room 4 games were non-functioning (the best games). Theater room television was outdated and picture was horrible. Television in room was outdated and cable provider was satelitte so signal was in and out. Not staying here again. WOuld not recommend. Very displeased!

Didn't but my boyfriend and I stay at a lot of hotels in Detroit and outside the city but even with a discount from Groupon I will not stay here now. Service problems are a big issue and I am one to frown on reviews like this.

The Hotel there was noing that i did not like the room was clean. My wife and i love the pool and hot tub. The price was good we will stay there again we will recommend t others

The hotel was freezing 24/7. I had to walk around with a heavy sweater the entire time. If you want a fridge you have to pay for it, but don't bother because there are no microwaves in the rooms anyway. The continental breakfast was terrible, I had to find coffee in the back room and get it myself. Don't count on eating breakfast there!! The security doors were open most of the time and the pool door was not. They leave you "environmental" reminders in your room asking you to please not ask them to wash your towels or sheets. They say there is coffee in the lobby 24/7, there isn't. No soap, shampoo, wash cloths, or extra tp in the bathroom. Pool table was nice and so was the jacuzzi, that's about it. Unless your getting an amazing discount on this hotel. The staff did not want to help you with anything and tries very hard to avoid you and any questions you might have. When they finally acknowledge you, they have an attitude. Your money is better spent elsewhere....trust me.

i liked everything about it.. very clean and had in indoor pool witch the kids loved. although at 4am the fire alarm went off and everyone had to rush out of the building, but was a false alarm .due to the oxegen from the temp outside from the temp inside is what caused it to go off.. would recomend this hotel to anyone. would stay again!!

This place may once have been a good economy hotel, but it's long past its prime. Carpets are full of stains, it smells like an ashtray, cobwebs on the ceiling of my first room, need I go on?

This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in.It was very clean,updated and the service was great.You cant go wroung staying their.If you need a hotel room by the Detroit airport than look no ferther.
