Cape Classic for 85yrs

I have gone to this Inn since 1977 first with my family and more recently took my 2-3 girlfriends over the years.
First off, re: the 4 Seasons comparisons. If you want a corporate/genric resort, then you should go to one. Comparing one of these half-dozen historic New England Inns to a sterile/cold cookie cutter resorts with their gold leaf and industrial-catering to a lodge that has history dating back 85 yrs is nuts. I will leave the weddings to Bridezilla TV.
CBI is part of dying breed of fine grand ole dame inns on the east coast. Newport, Marthas, Nantuck, Kennebunck all have their signature properties just like this. Thats why people go. They want lineage, history and charm.
You just have to know when / where to stay and what to order.
yes, its quirky but trust me their Prime Rib, Sunday night buffet, lobster roll at beach, and clam bake are to die for. Having a speedboat take you their private island : the "outer bar" sand bar is one of the priceless benefits of this location.....no other resort on the east coast offers this. Its sorta like Castaway.
The bluff cottages are for couples with more important things on their mind. The main inn is for family where joining-rooms, suites, facilities are made for that. The library / tavern are for drinks/brandy not dinner. The back cottages are good for budget and have specials.
In New England their is something called "un-service" b/c its sorta caddy-shack kids doing their summer jobs. If you aren't neurotic just flag down the captain or mgr. early on to make sure you are taken care of. Pretty college girls for waitresses isnt all bad, and buff beach waiters do well too.
CBI is a classic.
