Chatham Bars Inn, Cape Cods quintessential luxury seaside resort has been a renowned and beloved Cape Cod landmark since 1914. With one-quarter mile of the most spectacular private beach on Cape Cod, this grand oceanfront resort would be impossible to recreate today. Located on the elbow of the Cape, Chatham is a destination unto itself, and the town center is a short stroll from Chatham Bars Inn. Chatham is well known as the most picturesque and desirable town on Cape Cod. Anchored by the historic Chatham lighthouse, the village boasts a lively, architecturally rich Main Street where merchants cater to locals and strolling visitors from around the world. The town celebrates its sense of place through well-loved summertime traditions such as free Friday night band concerts, Cape Cod Baseball league games, and a Fourth of July parade that is a Norman Rockwell painting come to life. Chatham Bars Inn is the only luxury seaside resort located in the town of Chatham. The historic main inn offers luxuriously appointed guestrooms and private suites. Recently constructed cottages with luxurious bathrooms are nestled throughout the property most of which have balconies, decks or terraces with views of the Atlantic Ocean. The new spa suites, designed to facilitate in room treatments, provide an adults only sanctuary with easy access to the adjacent Spa, and outdoor relaxation pool. Chatham Bars Inn has won more awards than any other Cape Cod resort, a AAA Four-Diamond Award winner; consistently named one of the top resorts in the world by Travel & Leisure; the best hotel on Cape Cod by Boston Magazine; One of the Top Resorts in the World by Conde Nast Gold List; and Best Family Resort by Family magazine.

Best for Romantic weekends!
By Dr. Love, 06/13/09
The Chatham Bars Inn is simply fantastic. Food and service are both excellent, cottage rooms are out of this world and the spa rivals the Four Seasons Nevis. My husband and I are going back in 4 weeks to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. This is the place to go on the Cape for lovers! Worth every single penny.

Cape Classic for 85yrs
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/07
I have gone to this Inn since 1977 first with my family and more recently took my 2-3 girlfriends over the years. First off, re: the 4 Seasons comparisons. If you want a corporate/genric resort, then you should go to one. Comparing one of these half-dozen historic New England Inns to a sterile/cold cookie cutter resorts with their gold leaf and industrial-catering to a lodge that has history dating back 85 yrs is nuts. I will leave the weddings to Bridezilla TV. CBI is part of dying breed of fine grand ole dame inns on the east coast. Newport, Marthas, Nantuck, Kennebunck all have their signature properties just like this. Thats why people go. They want lineage, history and charm. You just have to know when / where to stay and what to order. yes, its quirky but trust me their Prime Rib, Sunday night buffet, lobster roll at beach, and clam bake are to die for. Having a speedboat take you their private island : the "outer bar" sand bar is one of the priceless benefits of this location.....no other resort on the east coast offers this. Its sorta like Castaway. The bluff cottages are for couples with more important things on their mind. The main inn is for family where joining-rooms, suites, facilities are made for that. The library / tavern are for drinks/brandy not dinner. The back cottages are good for budget and have specials. In New England their is something called "un-service" b/c its sorta caddy-shack kids doing their summer jobs. If you aren't neurotic just flag down the captain or mgr. early on to make sure you are taken care of. Pretty college girls for waitresses isnt all bad, and buff beach waiters do well too. CBI is a classic.

Meh...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/07
Very nice place. Went to Inn to eat dinner in the Main Dining Room. Server was very good and on the ball. Two people in the party ordered dishes where the peas were extremely hard, frozen or somewhat stale. I didn't splurge and I ordered the fish and chips. The "chips" were regular McDonald like fries in their own little paper cone in a special holder. Nothing special at all for $18. A very nice place, but not the quality of food I expected from such a nice establishment.

Best Vacation Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/07
After a six hour drive from PA, the family pulled up in front of the Chatham Bars Inn and had our collective breath taken away. What a GORGEOUS property. The landscaping was perfect, the main inn was cozy and historic, and our rooms were very comfortable--by the end of the trip we started referring to them as 'home.' The service was good--staff was friendly and attentive. Housekeeping was a bit lax--there were roomservice trays outside of our room from the previous occupants. Otherwise, problems were fixed relatively quickly. My sister played tennis with one of the pros there and he was kind and helpful--illustrative of the staff as a whole. The location was amazing. My boyfriend and I got up in the morning and walked from our cottage, through Chatham, and back to our cottage all within in an hour. All the cottages are close to the main inn and walking is not a chore due to the beautiful gardens. The beach at the Inn isn't suitable for swimming (go to the pool), but is an amazing place for nighttime walks. The hotel was spotless and the trip was well worth the cost. We're thinking about going back next year--or even for Xmas! Be sure not to miss...biking around Chatham, the lighthouse, tapas on the veranda, the pianist in the South Lounge, cooking with one of the chefs, and the trip to the Outer Beach--a pristine destination that's a ten minutes boat ride from the hotel--you'll feel as if you've arrived on a deserted island (and be treated to spectacular views of the harbor seals on your way over.)

Discusted with new management
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
We've stayed several different times at CBI, though it has always been pricy we loved coming for family vacations. But since under new management the price has increased approximately an extra $300 per night and and they now charge for items that should be included in the price;such as kid activities turn down services and newspapers. We feel there is no added value for the extra money!

Great old time luxury
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/21/07
My husband and I went for our 4th wedding anniversery. It was very windy and rainy, we thought our weekend was ruined. The staff at this hotel was so fabulous, they upgraded us to a suite that would be closer to the Main Inn so we would not get drenched going to the tavern and lounge. Every staff member had a smile and you could see they were very happy to work there. I think that says a lot about the managment, making the staff happy. The food was great in the Tavern, good wine list too. Breakfast buffet was to die for. We would love to go back and would recommend it to anyone.
