Recently (08/07/06) my wife and I used the points we earned using our Choice Privileges Reward Visa Card to spend a weekend at Ocean City, Maryland. We used 60,000 points to spend 3 nights in Ocean City. The first two nights we spent in Ocean City we stayed at Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel. The Clarion was nice. The third night however, we stayed at Quality Inn Oceanfront, MD010. From the front desk associates to the room, from check-in to check-out, there was lets say, NO Quality. Waiting in line to check in, once I approached the front desk associates and informed them we were staying one night in the form of a reward night, they asked me to step aside so we can check- in paying customers. After about an additional 18 minutes, they gave us the keys to our room, room 330. One of the associates asked the other, Did you do their paper work? The associates response was, no, I aint worried about it, they are just using points anyway. I didnt realize that by being a Choice Privileges Member, you are subject to such punishment and neglect for using a reward night. So we got our keys, went to our room. Our room had mold on the interior walls, which is a health violation. The entire room was very damp. After checking in I called Club Choices about switching hotels/rooms. To no surprise the hotel we were staying at was the only one in Ocean City with a vacancy. There were balls of dust and cob webs hanging from the ceiling above the a/c unit. Speaking of a/c, there was none. When I first turned on the a/c unit, it made a loud grinding noise, shortly after it just shut off. August, and no a/c, we of course did not sleep well. My wife was bit four times in her sleep, waking up with 4 itching small reddish swollen bites. I had mentioned about the a/c upon checking out, but do think anyone would apologize, no. There were more issues than that stated above. Above is what I would consider unacceptable without excuse and grounds to be reported for inspection, particularly the mold.
