Excellent, definitely worth the money!
Excellent place! The rooms were clean and nice and big. Absolutely no problems with our stay. The neighborhood isn't totally 100% great, but I never felt threatened or in trouble. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
The hotel has free breakfast, which consists of various juices from a machine, coffee, milk, cereal, oatmeal, oranges and apples, some basic pastries, and yogurt. It is served from 6am-9am, so be sure you get up early enough to get downstairs before they put it away. It's in the lobby next to the check-in counter. There is also an IHOP in the parking lot, and a McDonald's and Wendys close by.
Getting into DC is very easy, and very cheap. Be sure to write this down!! Walk across the street (New Hampshire Ave), and go to the bus stop at the bottom of the hill. Wait for the K6 bus, going to Fort Totten Station. It's $1.25 per person, and only takes exact change. Once you get to Ft. Totten Station, grab a 1 day Metro card ($6) that gives you unlimited usage for the day. It makes getting around DC much easier and faster. Get on either the red line or the green line, headed into DC, and get off at L'Enfant station, and you'll be right next to the National Mall near the Capitol Building. On your way back, grab a bus transfer pass (little machines around the Metro station). Take the red or green line back to Fort Totten. Walk outside and look for a K6 bus headed to White Oak. With your transfer ticket, the bus only costs 35 cents. Stay on the bus till you see the hotel or IHOP signs, and pull the yellow cord. It's as easy as that!
