Hit or Miss - Beware of what Unit you're renting.
By Dave, 08/12/08
We have stayed at the Seagull 3 times in the past 4 years. Each unit is basically the same but the owners of the units furnish them differntly. We found this out last week with Unit 13. Not well furnished. Bedrood had no night stands just a dresser with a lamp that had no bulb in it. Each unit has a small living room area that has a large slider out to a screened in deck. The slider had no shades or anything to cover it during the night. Hi everyone, yup we're here in the living room!. No privacy at all. Funny thing is the sofa was a sleep sofa, not sure how you can sleep when the morning light comes right in. There were only two very small round plastic tables near the ends of the sofa and one was used as a phone stand. No coffee table or anything to rest a drink down. No lamps in the living room at all and the kitchen lights were not on dimmers. So we had to take the bulbless (we got a bulb) lamp from the bedroom each night and put it in the kitchen counter to act as low light for the living room. The unit had two small TV's with no remotes. Got lucky and found a remote that could be programmed to work with one of the TV's and the remote was in a basket in the kitchen. The kitchen had what it needed to do cooking which was a bonus. It had an grill outside but the ignitor didn't work, which is common on grills. So all in all the Seagull is a decent place but be careful as when you book they will tell you all units are the same. Yes they have the same basic structure and blueprint, but what is in there is hit or miss for furninshings. I would stay away from unit 13. For what they get ($$) for a week I would think the management of the area would do a better job to make sure the owners that are renting are providing some sort of level for furnishings and privacy in the unit. If you get a unit you like then I would keep booking that as early as possible. We found this out the hard way.

A Hidden Treasure
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/13/08
You would never know from Rte 1, that hidden just down the driveway is a beautiful piece of property- Seagull Inn and Condominiums. Each unit stands alone and offers a full kitchen, living area and comfortable bedrooms. There are beautiful views of the ocean and Rachel Carson Bird sanctuary. It has a shaded area where you can realx or jump into one of the two pools. It was a great Maine get away! It surprised us how quickly we arrived on the Maine turnpike from Boston. Looking forward to making this our summer spot.

We're booking again next year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/07
We (family of four) rented a contemporary cottage for two weeks and we loved it. The cottage was practically new! It has two spacious bedrooms and a very nice kitchen. Our unit even had a washer and dryer. We have two small children (5 & 2) and being next to the pool was very nice. The road noise was somewhat bothersome, but if the pool is not an important amenity for you then you should ask for one of the contemporary cottages in the back of the property. You won't hear the noise from the road and you will be closer to the water. The kitchen was fully applianced and we saved lots of money because we didn't have to eat out often. In fact, we never dined at a restaurant for breakfast and lunch for the two weeks we were there. We shopped at the supermarket and made everything at the cottage. The trolley stops in front of the Seagull, which makes it very convenient. It's 15 minutes to the Ogunquit trolley and 15 minutes to Kennebunkport. Wells Beach is about a 10 minute ride. We're booking the same unit next year bringing friends to rent adjacent units.

Maine The Way Life Should Be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/29/05
I found this inn very relaxing on one end and very up swing on the other. There are several cottages built in the 50's but the majority are new 2 bedroom cottages built in 2005. They sit high on a hill overlooking the Rachel Carlson Perserve and the Atlantic Ocean. Below the hill they are currently building year round 3 bedroom townhouses to be ready for 2006. From the road you would not know what you will find. We find this place by accident and are happy we did. We plan to return in October for our annual fall shopping trip. The people their were very friendly, many of which are owners of the individual cottages. Although the cottages seemed close together, we unable to see are neighbors and they us. There are 2 Adult Pools, 1 Kiddie Pool and a Hot Tub. So Bring the whole family. This is the perfect vacation spot......... Maine.....The Way Life Should Be

A liitle treasure in Wells Maine
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/05
This is a property which is situated on an 11 acre piece of land. There are some vintage cottages that have been updated, but still remind you of the way Maine used to be. Many families who have been vacationing in Maine for years will love these adorable cottages. There are also new contemporary cottages with open floor plans and views of the pools or the Rachel Carson bird sanctuary and the ocean beyond. We loved the shady vintage area, right near the pools, where we could sit at picnic tables under the pine trees to have family dinners or just relax and enjoy a good book. The property was under construction last year, so I don't think we got the benefit of the finished product, but we are going to try it again, now that all of the cottages are built. I noticed that some families rented nearby cottages for a family gathering. They were together, but had their own space too. Wells has so much to do with the trolley stop out front you can avoid the traffic and ride to the beach or to the shops. Haven't had time to investigate all of the antique shops yet! Wells has its own exit off of the turnpike so you don't have to drive far once you arrive in the area.

good stay
By Ashley, 05/15/04
I've stayed at seagull once, and it was very pleasant. the room was nice, and it had a nice deck upstairs. the pool was kind of small but im always picky about that because i like huge pools. its right in front of the beach and boardwalk so you dont have to go far. overall, i had a good stay there.
