Disappointed

Not a real New England "Inn" experience, but more like a motel on the ocean front, at the mouth of York Harbor. We had a first floor harbor/ocean view with a small patio. Room was a typical motel room, and very clean. Excellent cleaning staff. Very slow hostess at the restaurant - we gave up eating there and found much better places nearby. The wait staff at the restaurant and pool area once seated were excellent and friendly.
The number one industry of Maine is stamping out "no trespassing" signs, which meant that there was very little space around the inn for taking walks everyday. We were limited to walking a risky cliff walk along the ocean or the long noisy walk into the tiny shopping area. The ocean water in July was way too cold to swim in, though hardy folks would wade in it. At various times of the day, the harbor/sea smell was more like stench. All in all, we were disappointed because we hoped that the very high price meant a great vacation.
