Ocean Woods Resort, Kennebunkport

Have stayed here multiple times, and it's always terrific. Great room, confortable beds, attentive staff, nice continental breakfast. The location is outstanding, a short walk to the best beach in Maine (Goose Rocks Beach). Close enough to the tourist areas, but far enough away for peace and quiet. Room rates are very reasonable. Also some nice areas on the resort's property for sitting, relaxing. Without a doubt my family's favorite "resort" type place in southern Maine, and has been for more than a dozen years.

We were just so comfortable at Ocean Woods Resort. Of course, there are the usual guest comforts like a gas fireplace, spacious rooms, quality bedding, a sports pub and continental breakfast, but it is PEOPLE that make a stay memorable. Our New England vacation last summer was highlighted by care and attention from the on-site proprietors and sharing “the best local restaurants” with other guests. I’ve stayed at a 1000 hotels with nary a word exchanged, but Ocean Woods Resort was different; refreshingly different.

Ocean Woods plays like a large county inn. There are spacious, well-appointed rooms, comfortable gathering areas and plenty of friendly faces among the innkeepers and staff. We enjoyed the variety from quiet walks to the nearby beach to lively conversation with other guests. As a sports nut, I especially enjoyed PJs. The pub offers a well thought-out menu, the games and events of the day and conversation among the patrons. Of course, you can't ever say too much about Kennebunkport; which even after 5 days, we still have plenty explore. When we return, you will see us at Ocean Woods!

This is a charming family hotel near ( a nice walk or a very short drive) one of the best beaches (Goose Rocks Beach) on the east coast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They made us feel extremely welcome. The rooms were nice and clean and roomy. We understand the the new owners (2 years) have done alot on the rooms and grounds since taking ownership. The grounds are very nice with a pool, hot tub and games for the kids. Our children had a great time playing here. We did enjoy the convenience of having a breakfest (complimentary) and dinner available at PJ's. PJ's was a lot of fun with live music on the weekend as well as very entertaining and friendly staff with indoor or deck seating. We will return to Goose Rocks Beach and the Ocean Woods Resort!

I stayed here twice this summer and can't wait to return. The innkeeper is very friendly and accommodating. She's the new owner since last year and she made me feel very welcome. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. Goose Rocks Beach, which is absolutely gorgeous, is only a short walk or drive. The inn is also close to Cape Porpoise and Kennebunkport, but far enough to get away from the crowds. One of my favorite parts was the restaurant and sports bar, which opens around happy hour. It's connected to the rooftop deck, so you can dine inside or outside and watch the big game on one of the flat screen tvs. Most Saturday nights during the summer they also have live music. The barkeep is incredibly friendly and fun. Overall, my visits have been very relaxing and enjoyable. This area of Maine is one of my favorites.

I just came across the mention of this inn. It has recently been sold (2006 or early 2007)& has a new name, which I do not recall. We have not stayed there since its sale. The last time we did stay there (Spring 2006), we were thinking about buying it, but decided against it. It was in need of a new roof & repair of water damage, upgrades to the rooms etc. Perhaps its greatest selling point is its location, just half a mile from a provate beach, & also the beautiful salt marshes in the immediate area. We wish the new owners the best of luck & hope they continue to preserve the neighborhood as a quiet, beach community retreat.

I recently stayed here in July of 2006. The web site advertised as such: features a spacious lounge, rooftop deck, and elegant dining and steps away from the beach. The lounge and rooftop deck were closed and the restaurant was only open from 8AM to 10AM for breakfast. The pool was constantly occupied by family members of the Inn keeper so I felt I would be imposing. The beach was a good 1/2 mile down the road and one needed a beach sticker each day at a cost of $6.00 per day. The advertised gracious accommodations and fine dining one would expect of a New England Country Inn were no where in site at the peak of the season.

Our family of 33 -ages 5 mos to 70 years, had a 3 day reunion at The Inn at Goose Rocks Beach. The Inn is warm and very welcoming, the rooms spacious and comfortable, and being from Arizona, we loved the New England charm. The owners, Jerry and Skip Magaw, went out of their way to make the weekend memorable. Everyone had a great time and we recommend the Inn highly.

my mom and i went on a weekend getaway so to speak and in our first room the sliding doors to outside wouldn't open, so we moved. our second room was unhealthily moldy and we had to move again because my mom is allergic to mold. in our third room it was just as bad and the sliding door barely opened. we had a terrible experience
