Old Timey Luxury.

I was only in New Orleans for a limited time, and accordingly only spent one night in Le Pavillon.
The lobby area and dining area are both beautiful and incomparable. This hotel has a very old timey feel, and the check-in staff was nice enough. You can get much more spacious rooms in New Orleans for the price, but anyone looking at Le Pavillon isnt probably worried about the price.
The only comment that I can make about this hotel, being that I stayed for a very limited time, is that it's a farther walk from the French Quarter than one would expect. Pre-hurricane, this walk wasn't much of a bother, but post hurricane the walk from the quarter to Poydras Street is decidely more 'sketchy' feeling. It was always a sketchy walk, but it feels even more-so now.
If you're going to New Orleans to have drinks and enjoy the nightlife, then you'd be more satisfied with a hotel in the Quarter. If you're planning a more cerebral, mature trip to New Orleans and will be doing most of your touristing during the day, then this hotel is a good choice to lounge in.
The lobby and dining areas are truly magnificent; I'm not sure, but pre-hurricane this hotel had a hot tub and swimming pool on the roof, which should be a lot of fun. The combination of comfortable rooms, comfortable lobby, nice attached restaurant, and proximity to the casino make this hotel a very attractive choice to those not enamored with the French Quarter.
Overall: Great Hotel, Smallish Rooms, Beautiful Old Timey Feel, A Relatively Long Walk from the Quarter, Relatively close to the Casino and Riverwalk.
