Guest Services was great but needs updating
By JV, 6/22/10
I remember staying at this hotel 10 years ago with my partner. Back then this hotel was the nicest in town. Not now adays. The Brown hotel needs some updating. My room seemed outdated, the bed was broke down and the bedding was very used! I will not stay at this hotel again. It use to be the best one.

This is not a restaurant I would recommend
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/10
I went to this restaurant (the Brown Hotel) this past week because it was recommended as the best hotel restaurant in Louisville.. what a disappointment! Granted, they just hired a new chef, and this may be the problem. They may have been rated well before this new chef showed up. The whole food experience was bad, and the service was obnoxious. The only things I appreciated are the good sea salt and freshly ground pepper that one could sprinkle on a piece of bread that would have been good had it been fresh (bread tasted like it was a day old). The escargots were so bad that you would not be able to pay me to eat them again. The chef forgot to season them, and there was not a grain of salt on them which then allowed us to really taste the escargot which in this case had no taste so we could only taste a mix of watery walnut oil taste. Not only did the chef not season the escargot but on top of that he must have rinsed them in water after taking them out of a can and forgot to drain them thouroghly so they tasted watery. Yuk!! I have eaten escargots many times in my life including in the South of France prepared by my mother, and I can assure you that this is not what escargots taste like. The steaks were not great either as they were a little too nervy. We passed on dessert because of our bad experience with the rest of the meal. The coffee was mediocre...what is it with these fancy restaurants that serve coffee that tastes like instant!! I will never go back to this place. Louise

Why isn't this hotel # 1?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/13/07
This hotel provided amazing comfort and service for our 2 night stay in Louisville. There were a lot of fun things to do nearby, however we spent most of our time in the beautiful lobby sipping great martinis. The food was outstanding everywhere we ate. The staff was amazing and very friendly. We plan to return soon.

Excellent service!
By Melissa Ellis, 8/20/06
The staff went out of their way to provide great service. They were extremely prompt, polite, and professional. They even provided guest access to computers with internet connection on the third floor. Recommend the "Hot Brown" as well as the salmon in the casual restaurant. Again, exceptional service.

Would stay there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/05
The check in was a little disorganized, however the room was very nice and comfortable. The location was great because it was right up the street from 4th street live and my company headquarters. The best thing about the Brown Hotel was "the hot brown' sandwich which was delicious!
