I'll probably stay at the Sheraton next time.
The hotel is located conveniently to get into downtown Louisville within three to seven minutes depending on traffic. There are two pools, an indoor and an outdoor and the hotel is close to a small water park. The problems with the hotel are numerous. There are roaches in the rooms and the air conditioning doesn’t work properly in many of the rooms. The bathroom floors, on checking in, were dirty and the mirror smudged. The windows, inside and out, on our ground floor room were filthy inside and out and didn’t look to have been cleaned in months. The room smelled like it had recently doubled as a cigar bar—the smell was awful.
The staff at the Clarksville Holiday Inn was friendly, however many of the maids didn’t seem to understand English, and I couldn’t speak their language, so it was hard to let them know when we needed something. There didn’t seem to be enough towels in the hotel. When our rooms were cleaned in the morning they typically only left one bath towel—my wife and I were traveling with two of our children so it made it difficult to shower when coming back from the pool or sightseeing. When we asked for more towels we were often told that there weren’t any clean and that they would bring us more later, which they did.
We were staying at the hotel as part of a group and our rooms were paid for and booked in advance. If we hadn’t already paid to stay at the Holiday Inn, my family and I would have driven a few blocks south to the Sheraton or one of the other hotels. If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay overnight and don’t mind the listed problems then this is the place for you—otherwise spend a little extra money and stay somewhere else.
