Budget Friendly and Decent
By Tammera, 6/21/10
After reading many of the reviews, I felt a short update on my experience would be helpful. My daughter and I stayed in this hotel in June of 2010 for one night on our way to TN. The property has clearly undergone some renovations, although there are more improvements that could be made. Our room, specifically, was clean. The bedding was new with pillow top type mattresses, very full and comfortable pillows and soft bedding. The sheets, blankets and pillows were clean and stain free. The carpet was vacuumed and the bathroom and sink area were also clean. Our room provided in-room coffee maker, hair dryer and the typical samples of soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc. We had an older, but nice tv with cable and the free internet hooked up without any problems whatsoever. The hotel is an older hotel, reminding me of those my family and I stayed in when traveling as a young girl. The furniture is older, and not top of the line, but in good condition while still displaying use. Our room did have some areas that needed to be touched up with paint along the suitcase shelf storage area, but you could also see that improvements throughout the property were in process. The air conditioner worked quite well, although, again, was an older model and a bit noisy. However, it was not distracting to us and was a nice cover up to the high traffic road that runs next to the property and the constant barage of semis, which was irritating. This property has a nice sized outdoor swimming pool, guest laundry facilities and breakfast room. Again, nothing fancy, but basic and simple. If you are looking for a hotel for a one night stay that is clean and cheap, then I would definitely recommend this location. If you are looking for a higher end hotel with top of the line furnishings, amenities and property features, this is not the hotel for you. My primary complaint about this facility is its lack of handicap accessibility. There is one HC room with two double beds. It's priced higher due to the double bed occupancy, yet a single HC room is not available. There are two HC spots for the entire hotel and they are near the one HC room, making the rest of the hotel a bit of a challenge to navigate. The breakfast room and laundry facilities are not easily accessible with a wheelchair, but would be with a walker. The property consists of two levels, with the top level being accessible by exterior stairways only. Upon request, we were put into a corner, bottom level room. I do feel that the staff accommodated my daughter's wheelchair as best as they could, given that the property as a whole is not what I would consider appropriately accessible to those with physical challenges. The staff were friendly and I have no concerns about our check in or check out process, both of which were quick and painless. I paid under $60.00 for our one night stay and would do so again. This is a very budget friendly, clean and acceptable hotel for a "stop over" stay if you are not looking for the fancy lace and frills, but rather a clean place to sleep for the night.

Hellhole
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/09
I am a health inspector and I noticed numerous violations immediately. But when I pulled back the covers on the bed the box springs were showing and they had the fabric cut open with a knife. In plain site among the bedsprings were used rubbers. Needless to say I immediately got out of there and demanded a refund and informed the local health dept. Always inform the area health dept. and they will do a complaint inspection.

Worst motel in 35 years!
By nancy, 5/7/07
We could not understand how this hotel stays in operation! Are they not inspected? Our room was dirty and smelled bad. The carpet was buckled, frawed and torn. The bathtub was multi-colored due to age. There was mold all along the caulking. The mattress was so old that the seams were open in areas. The furniture was worn. It appeared this room was decorated 50 years ago and hasn't been touched since. There were no redeeming features other than the TV worked. We would never stay here again!

One of My Worst Hotel Experiences
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/06
The room I was assigned had not been cleaned: bed unmade, bathroom in disarray, etc. I called the front desk and informed the clerk of the problem. She told me to come to the front desk and get another room key. The second room was OK. I had to plug-in and set the alarm clock, a minor annoyance. Also, the room was not exceptionally clean (hair on the bathroom ceiling). The experience went downhill from there. I needed to spend another night, so they re-assigned me AGAIN (This made no sense to me). The third room was in poor condition. It literally had a hole in the wall. Also, there were not enough outlets in the room, so the staff used extension cords to hook-up the appliances. (Does Lexington have a fire marshal?) The room had a nasty-looking recliner that I was afraid to sit on. One group that was staying there camped-out in the hallway, getting drunk and smoking cigarettes. I had to walk through this to get to my room. The location is also poor. No good restaurants (only a Dennys) and one has to drive through a bad (according to the locals) neighborhood to get downtown. My advice: stay at one of the newer, CHEAPER, Sleep motels in the area.

a diamond in the rough ...
By GeorgeW, 11/1/05
We've stayed here several times. And we'd go back. Don't expect fancy - the place is older and could use some updating - but if you are in the market for a cheap room with friendly service - this is your place. We come to the area 2 times a year to attend events at the Kentucky Horse Park. This place is only minutes away and is also convenient to everything else you need (restaurants and shopping). Plus - they offer a really nice breakfast for FREE! Juice, Toast, Muffins, Fruit, Cereal, etc, etc, etc. (Think deluxe continental)

A room away from home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/19/04
Initially when we arrived at the hotel, we were given a 'smoking' room. When I called and requested a non-smoking, we were immediately accomadated, which was very much appreciated. The hotel is easily accesible and within a reasonable distance of our designated reason for visiting Lexington.
