Ashland Plaza Hotel, Ashland

Great place to stay. I read the reviews about this place before I got there, and was a litlle worried, but once I got there, I was amazed. Some people can't be pleased with anything. My only disappointment was that there was no restaurant on the premises. BUT, within 5 blocks, there is a Texas Roadhouse, O' Charley's, Ruby Tuesdays, CJ Maggies, Outback, Bob Evans, Applebee's, Cheddars, Chinese, Mexican, Pizza, and a bunch of fast food places. No wonder they can't keep the restaurant open. The bar was open though, and Heather (bartender) was awsome. Anyway, I had a great stay, my bed was nice and soft, my room was clean, and the front desk staff was the nicest ever. A gentleman by the name of Ryan was extremely helpful in helping me with directions, and other stuff. Can't way to stay there again. I even asked about the one blog with the woman who claimed her jewlery was stolen. She forgot to mention that a staff member actually dove into the dumpster, b/c she said she had thrown her stuff away on accident. It was only after that she claimed it was stolen. Sounds like an insurance scam to me. Seriously, who carries $25,000 worth of jewlry with them on vacation, and then leaves it in the room. Anyway, thanks Plaza, thanks Ryan, thanks Heather, I'll be back.

after staying for two nights my stay was acceptiable nothing great nothing really bad i did review past reviews first no place is perfect theres a lot you can do for your self take a couple of extra towels in your bags just in case one of your kids may crap on them selfs or your mother in law got a leak in her depends bring a long a snack just in case be nice to the staff the nicer you are the nicer they will be to you think do you like listening to people whinning all the time hell no you dont. give it a try you will have a better trip

I, too, was shocked when we arrived 'cause the hotel looked nothing like its web pics. after finally finding the parking lot, we walked past some scary, creepy, horrible people by the dumpsters (what an entrance) and to our surprise we were told they were employees outside smoking,etc. We decided to pay in cash 'cause we were fearful for our safety and we needed time to find another hotel for our 5-night visit to Ashland for a competitive junior golf tourney. We were unable to find another decent hotel nearby so we reluctantly handed over our card and told Travis we'd pay cash at the end of our stay if everything turned out okay - Travis agreed! A few of our problems included the following: no hot water; no working internet service; no movie rentals on TV; few TV channels; pool not working; ice machine broken; lousy little old TV's; shortage of towels; dirty linens; dirty carpet; dirty bedspreads; smelly room; practically no food on the continental breakfast bar, etc. But, I'm saving the worst for last: I was robbed of all my precious jewelry during my stay! Management ignored me, owners (Patel) ignored me; Ashland PD came to my rescue and filed a report but received NO cooperation from Plaza whatsoever! One employee finally admitted to me that the maid who cleaned my room moved to Florida and quit the same day my jewelry was stolen! To top it all off!.......they illegally and without authorization - charged my card PLUS kept my first nights cash after promising "comp" my visit due to the robbery! LIARS, CHEATERS, RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL OWNERS, MANAGEMENT, AND EMPLOYEES! DON'T Jeopardize your time or money or safety at the Ashland Plaza Hotel!

Had a wonderful stay. My family and I came into town to vist family and was refered to the Ashland Plaza Hotel. The Hotel is very clean the restaurant on the second floor has wonderful food. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will be staying here again.

I stayed at this hotel on Oct 30, 2009, and considered staying there on several occasions while visiting Ashland. My first impression was tarnished by the front desk personnel. I wanted to pay Cash instead of having my credit card charged. I was told by the desk clerk that I could pay Cash and they would take an imprint of my credit card. I agreed, but then the card went right ahead and authorized my credit card with disregard of my wishes. I ended up paying a nights deposit over and above the nights room charge. I entered the room and was disappointed of the furniture in the room, especially with the reputation and caliber of this hotel. I was further disappointed that the king size mattress was rather broken down and uncomfortable. In addition, there was only one face cloth in the bath room. Upon departure, the front desk manager was at the reception desk. Before she would refund my nights deposit which I had to leave, she sent another person to my room on the 8th floor to check to see if there was any damage or any smoking had been done in the room during my stay. I am a non smoker and further more a senior field grade officer in the U S Military. What an insult to injury The dining room and the bar has been closed. Before departing my room, one of the housekeepers was clearning the room next to mine and played the radio so loud that I could hear it better in my room than in the room next door. I have stayed in Day's Inn's and Ramada's with more comfort features and class than this hotel. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone I know to stay there, and I personally know that I will never stay there on another visit to Ashland.

didn't have enough washcloths. the room was stunk. there was a partying in the hallway. the people next door was pounding on the wall. the tv didn't work. the bedspresad and blankets were dirty. the chairs had stains on it. the staff was rude. no hot water. the sheets were barely threaded and wouldn't stay on the bed. no hot water. bathroom door is 1/2 inch away from the toilet and have to stand in the tub to close the door. you could hear trains all night. i wouldn't stay here again.

My husband and I and our son stayed here for a wedding that was in the area. When we first checked in, they had the wrong accomadations--no big deal. We got that taken care of. After the wedding, we arrived at the hotel around 9:30 pm. It smelled like 'pot' on our floor. Also, from 11:00 pm to at least 3:00 am people were yelling, slamming doors as they went in and out of their rooms, and just being extremely loud and disrespectful to other guests . Despite leaving our TV on and the fan in the room going, we couldn't sleep. I do not feel that hotel staff were friendly. There were only 2 towels and 1 washcloth for our family. I couldn't wait to get out of this place! Overall, definitely the worst hotel we've stayed at. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed here many times. The quality of service and rooms has varied over the years. It is certainly a hotel struggling to stay afloat in difficult economic times. I miss the Comedy Club as well as the original restaurant. I stayed over the Memorial Day weekend (09) and was delighted to have an exceedingly clean room - new carpets, new mattresses and bedding. The workout room was great for my husband. We were treated with professional kindness and found the staff very responsive. This is a depressed town. These people need the business and our support. I believe they are trying hard with limited resources. My room was clean, the bed was super...that's the most important thing to me! I will definitely stay here again. It is walking distance to Central Park - site of many fun concerts and activities.

Hospitatality is definitely out the door at this place. Notice towels were not listed as part of the room amenities. That is because they don't have any!!! We had 1, towel and 1 washcloth to use for a family of 4. And they acted like it was our problem not theirs that they didn't have any towels. They would not offer any customer service discount for us not having towels to use, not even a late check out which is standard at most decent hotels. The "Manager" is a coward that kept hiding behind her front desk workers instead of dealing with the situation herself. I usually read reviews before I book at a hotel but couldn't in this case and wish I had because it was not a good experience. Stay anywhere but here unless you don't mind air drying, or pack your own towels.

Not only dirty, but they also charged us $100 for "smoking" in non-smoking room. I have never smoked in my life! I guess that's how they make money in that nasty place!
