Cheap, good staff, rooms need work
I needed to stay for a few weeks at a cheap hotel, and Bluegrass was about half the cost of the nearby fancy hotels at 421 and 64. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. The first room didn't have internet access. Also, it had cobwebs on the ceiling, and was pretty small. The manager went out of his way to try to please me, but we finally agreed that it would be best for me to move to another room, so I lugged all of my stuff a few doors down. This time, the internet worked, but the TV got only half the advertised channels (he said the cable company won't fix it), the plumbing broke down a couple of times, the maid keeps short-sheeting me (I left a tip after the first week; it didn't help!), the door gets stuck (I'm a strong male; heaven help women, kids, or elderly folks if there's a fire), half the power outlets are sticking out of the walls and/or won't accept any plug, half the dresser are missing the hardware, so you can't pull the drawers out, there are no gutters on the building, so rain just falls on the ground in front of the room sounding like Niagara Falls, and the list just goes on and on. I moved out after the second week to a more expensive hotel (most apartments don't accept short-term leases), but it was worth it. The hotel has changed hands at least 4 times (as I understand it, it used to be an Econolodge and a Best Western, and one other famous chain). Again, the amiable manager tried his best, but it's like trying to make an old gray mare into a thoroughbred racer: it ain't gonna happen!
