Disappointing is an understatement
By Michelle, 4/28/11
From the moment they took our reservation until we checked out, everything missed commitments. They were not able to provide us with the room & features we reserved. When we went to our room, there were 1/2 empty shampoo bottles in the shower which took made the hairs in the bathroom a much larger concern. The hotel staff in the breakfast area, literally followed behind my family with a trashbag pushing us to eat & run (there were still 10 more minutes before the buffet was closed.) They even went so far as to turn off the juice machines off early so that we could not finish our breakfast. The beds were horribly uncomfortable & bedspreads were disgusting. This experience was such a disappointment. I would strongly recommend that you book another hotel if you are visiting Hutch. There are many better options. The management of this hotel should be ashamed.

worst hotel ive ever been to.
By Jo AnnD, 7/4/10
This is the worst hotel I've ever experienced. 1. Smelly, resembles a mixture of mold poop and skunk. 2. Pool area NASTY, 3. Pool water heater broke.. HOT TUB heater broke. Water slides aren't working... no gym.... 4 rude ignorant staff, 5. Shower doesn't drain. 6. Nasty hairs all over. 7. Water coming through door and windows.... not dripping running down. Worst hotel ever. Spend a little extra and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Its worth it. Listen to the reviews...don't take your chance! Will NEVER stay here again.

Never again
By Megan Mummey, 2/22/09
We stayed at the Grand Prairie last year and the kids loved the water park. We looked forward to going back this year until we arrived. We were told the water slide and lazy river were closed and would not reopen. We stayed in the suite and was very disappointed. The thermostat was broken and it was very hard to regulate the temperature in the room. The door lock was broken, the doors to the children's room was off the hinges, bathroom and room was somewhat clean, and the TV's were snowy. When we went to the pool area we were greeted by the cockroaches in the green pool, the childrens pool was not heated and one of the slides was broken and roped off with a single rope which kids were getting tangled in. The basketball goals in the pool were rusted and broken. I was very disappointed and we will not go back!!!

Big Disappointment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/08
We have stayed here before and liked it, but were disappointed with the hotel on this stay. They have closed the waterslide and lazy river to make more meeting room, but so far all that they have done is drain the water and build a temporary plywood wall between it and the other pool. Doesn't seem like a good choice for a meeting room because of noise from the pool area being right beside it.Now they have a small pool, hot tub and baby pool. The baby pool was FREEZING. Our 2 year old grandchild wanted to be in the water so bad, but it was too cold and she would shake and her teeth would chatter. The room was ok - but bathroom has no counter space to put your toiletries. The mirror in the bedroom area was not close to any plug-ins, so it was hard for the women in our group to fix their hair.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By EllenW, 9/8/08
Room was filthy. Front desk staff and MANAGER were horrible people. Very Rude. We paid for the waterpark - but when we took the kids down - the slides were being torn down!! Nobody even told us prior to check in!! What kind of service is that?? I have never stayed in a place that bad!!

Very Disappointed and Frustrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/08
Lobby and bar(where breakfast is served) are very inconvenient to get to. Rooms were very hot and their cooling system does not work. Water park was closed during strange hours on the weekend to kids for an "adult swim" which was very disappointing to the kids especially if you get there later in the day like we did because no one informed us of this and they only got to swim for an hour before they had to get out. Water park bathrooms and other areas were not kept nor clean. Staff was very young and not very friendly or overly helpful. I can't even remember all the little things that we were disappointed with, but it seems as though everytime we turned around we found ourselves frustrated and we came across several others in the hotel as we passed by that felt the same way we did. I am usually a very forgiving and patient person but this hotel is a joke. The only thing it has going for it is that the kids enjoy the water park, but we would not stay here again.

Not at all what you think.
By alison, 4/9/08
I was expecting the Great Wolf Lodge and got Motel 8. We walked into our non smoking room and immediately were overwhelmed by the smell of smoke. We asked the front desk to provide air freshener; it was never delivered. (We used perfume, which did the trick.) The room was cramped and fairly clean. The bath was filthy. Fortunately we were clean and could avoid the tub. The staff seemed lazy and unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel. The Microsoft Suites are right next door and look much nicer.

we cant wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/08
I realy like the slides but I wish that you could go down on the big blue slide without a tube and with two pepole and a one person tube. The sweet rooms are nice the kids can hove there own little party in the kid room and the adults could have a bit a peace in the bigger room.

NOT the place you want to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/22/07
The water park in this hotel is really the only positive I can say about Grand Prairie hotel and even that had a major drawback. The slides and lazy river are only turned on during the weekend hours. We did not know that until we were already checked in and went to swim. That was a big disappointment to our son and they refused to turn the slides on even though there were plenty of people swimming during the weekday hours. We stayed in a room with two queen sized beds. The room was HOT and the A/C did not work. There was a de-humidifier in the room (so obviously they recognize this problem) but it was broken, too. As a result, the room was miserably uncomfortable temperature-wise. At one point, there was a cockroach crawling up the wall, which added to the uncomfortable feeling of being in this room. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. When you're walking down the hallway, you can hear what people are talking about in the room when their door is shut! The continental breakfast they advertise was also a disappointment. Especially when compared to some of the other surrounding hotels where we have stayed previously. The only time this hotel has a good breakfast available is on the weekends. Apparently, that is the only group they feel they need to accomodate. During the week, you are out of luck as you don't even get cereal (we were told because "there aren't enough people"). The third night we were there, it was so noisy I finally called the front desk and told them that apparently there was a herd of buffalo in the hotel. They were going to "have maintenance check it out" but the kids running and screaming continued until 3 am. It was LOUD and none of us could sleep. I'm not talking just late like 10 or 11 - I'm talking ALL NIGHT. We stayed in a non-smoking room and at one point it began smelling as if somebody was smoking a cigarette in the room. The smell was VERY strong. We were told that the ventilation system was picking up cigarette smoke. They brought febreze to our room to "fix" the problem. They advertise free movies to watch while you're staying there but those were not available. They have cable TV but no movies other than what you can find to watch, which is fine - but not what they advertise. The people working the front desk (with a few exceptions) were rude and arrogant acting. If there was a problem brought to their attention, they just shrugged it off like it wasn't their problem or "oh well." I consider myself a reasonable and patient person and, considering the horrid experience we had at this hotel, I was still friendly. That didn't seem to matter - they just plain did not want to be bothered. Either that or they had heard these complaints so often that they didn't want to hear it. Either way - RUDE. If you are visiting Hutchinson and want to go to this water park, pay the fee to go and stay elsewhere. This hotel is nasty, unclean, and unfriendly. . Let me just add that we were in town for a funeral and family members stayed in 6 other rooms. We all had the same experience - NOT GOOD. None of us liked the hotel, the rooms, the staff, or the fact that they advertise good things like water slides, continental breakfast, movies in the rooms, etc. but fall short on everything. This is NOT the place you want to stay in Hutchinson. YUCK!
