This place was wonderful for us!!
By Laurie, 06/17/09
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza 5 Seasons for 7 nights and not one day were we disappointed. Although we only slept here mostly, and didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, it was very pleasant and quiet on the 11th floor. Our room, and all rooms there, have recently been remodeled, but not all have the new carpet. Our room did have the new carpet, however. They offer free WiFi and each standard room has two queen beds, which seemed to be very new. The room service was prompt and we had a nice view of the city. Close to Gringos Mexican Restaurant, a steakhouse, The Blue Strawberry for coffee and even lunch, the Five Seasons Center. Valet parking was $12 per day, regular parking $6. The reception desk is on the 2nd floor... parking walkway is located on the 3rd. The pool is currently closed, which was a bummer with our 7 year old with us, but we found other ways to entertain her. Priceline lists this hotel as a 3 Star hotel. That's just fine for Cedar Rapids, because hey, it's Iowa. Cedar Rapids is a very clean city, the policemen are very polite and gave our daughter a CRPD badge sticker, when he passed us on his Segway thingy. There are some interesting smells in CR, Quaker Oats being one. If you don't mind the scent of Oatmeal every day, this hotel will work for you. The city is recovering nicely from the devastating flood of 2008. Lots of "We're Back!" signs in businesses.

Poor way to welcome visitors to Cedar Rapids
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/08
I had my wedding at this hotel two years ago. That experience was less than glowing but my husband and I thought we'd give it another shot last weekend. We shouldn't have. First, we waited for an elevator for at least 20 minutes and then resorted to the escalators in the US cellular center because the elevators couldn’t keep up with the demand of all the wrestlers in town for the championships. Then, they rudely tried to tell me that I’d booked my room through GoogleMaps and therefore would get a standard double room. Good thing I had my confirmation printed out to prove I’d paid for a king, which we had to wait for because even after 3 p.m. they didn’t’ have any clean. Check out was equally painful, as were the wrestlers cavorting in the halls at 1 a.m. and the security guards causing just as much noise as the problem guests. We stayed there for the location. But, probably won’t again. It’s too bad. It should be a much better hotel. And it doesn’t make Cedar Rapids look very good to visitors.

Fix the carpets!
By Annonymous, 01/18/08
The carpets in the main lobby and 16th floor Commerce Club need to be either stretched (at a minimum) or replaced as soon as possible. I tripped on one of the places where they are pulled up. I'm considering the Crowne Plaza for another event, but don't want my guests to fall or worse. Really tackey for such a high end hotel.

Excellent!
By Stacy, 01/09/07
We thought the rooms were wonderful. Very clean, very well kept up to date and the little extras are nice. Aside from the nice lotions and shampoos that were available, we were also given a sleep CD and eye mask. I still use that sleep CD to this day. I'm an insomniac what can I say, LOL! We were staying here to attend a local party at the Typhoon which is within walking distance, much like other bars and eating establishments are. I love a room where I feel comfy and cozy in my surroundings and this was it. The bed was very comfortable and well as the pillows were clean and new. We even found the night staff, security, bar tender and cleaning crew were just as friendly as the day staff, if not a bit more. The only down side was the day were stayed was a Disney Show on Ice. After our arrival, we went to grab a bite to eat and came back. And as you can imagine, getting into the parking ramp and finding a spot to park was a little rough. However the worst part was making our way out of the parking ramp, up the stairs and into the building. The afternoon show had just let out and as you can imagine - we were going the wrong way in a one way crowd filled will happy little children and parents. It would be nice to know if there is another route, even if longer, that hotel guests could access the hotel in crisis like that. Two thumbs up on our stay!

Superior!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/06
A beautiful hotel, great rooms, great views, close to everything downtown. The staff goes out of their way to help, will do anything to make the stay pleasant. When was the last time you got a hand written note thanking you for staying at a hotel by the manager?? Happened to me. Unbelieveable service!!

Nice, clean and cozy
By Tomoko, 03/22/06
Room is clean and cozy. I was impressed with "sleep-well bag,' which contains CD, Ravender perfume, ear plugs and eye-mask. There were free Apple Cider in the afternoon and coffee in the morning available at the lobby. Restaurant has a great view. You can meet some locals at the bar. Building is a little old. A girl at the bar was not very kind. If you have chance to stay in Cedar Rapids, I definitely recommend this hotel.

Excellent Beds
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/26/05
We received excellent service at the Crowne Plaza and their new sleeping package was amazing. The best night sleep we have had in a hotel in a long time. Downtown location is very convenient to all attractions and many restaurants
