Worst Hotel I have stayed in
By goddessvixen7, 2/22/09
My fiance and I decided to used the Marriot West Des Moines do to the rumor luxuy and as a late romanitic valentine day gateway. My fiance thought a head a paid extra for thier "romance package" which include choc.strawberrys and champange. Before checking in my fiance ask for non-achololic champange ( I am pregnant). We wait for about two hours after check in to recieve the package and we need to send it back because the gave us regular champange. Also the room was cold and the staff was very disorganized. We went to get breakfast in the morning which was a terrible and cold meal. The next night we decide to stay at the Chase Inn and Suites which was delightful. For the cost of the Marriott and reputation I expected more then a cold room, forgetful staff and a bad breakfast of cold eggs and hashbrowns that tooks a good 45mins to be recieved in a dining with maybe 10 people in total to be serviced.

My Favorite Hotel in Des Moines
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/26/08
I do a lot of travel and I find this hotel to be outstanding. The rooms are beautiful and the beds are so comfortable I sleep like a baby! Service is excellent, always friendly with a smile! Shuttle service is super. The food at the restaurant onsite is very good, I ate there twice on my stay and loved it both times! The crab cakes are outstanding. High speed internet access is easy to connect to. I cannot find one thing wrong with this hotel and will stay here everytime I am in Des Moines!

Nice hotel for the price
By lollipop, 2/19/08
We spent Valentines weekend at the west des moines Marriott. It was definitely the nicest hotel I had ever stayed at. For the most part it was clean, very good service, close to shopping and restaurants, and we paid 139.99 for a king jacuzzi suite which I thought was reasonable. There are a few things that disappointed me. Note: I am very picky, so I really looked things over good. The cleaning lady left a dirty rag on the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi itself was in poor repair-it had a broken button and the front panel kept falling off. It did work ok though. Our bed had 1 foam pillow and the rest were nice feather pillows. I pulled back the duvet on the comforter and noticed a yellow stain, grated it was small, but that is still gross. The furnace in the room is quite loud when it kicks on and off. They wanted 4.50 for a bottle of Dasani water that was in the room. I thought that was very pricey for water. If you want a nice meal when visiting Des Moines, eat at Christopher's in Beaverdale. Great steaks, prime rib, romatic atmosphere.

Very nice!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/06
It's a very uptown high class hotel with fair prices and a great location. The service is top notch, with friendly faces. I would recomend a visit to the Marriott to anyone looking for a trouble free stay in a world class hotel.

Don't use the phone
By Adam, 7/18/06
Overall was neutral to slightly negative on the experience. The only thing that seperated our hotel room from the Super 8 was a very comfortable bed. Furnishings and service were not spectacular. I even had a maid try to walk in on me even though the "Privacy" sign was on the door, luckily we had the door locked from the inside. A couple days after checking out we got a $7 charge on our account. I called the Marriot to find out what it was about, they said it was for local calls. $1 for each local call. I thought that used to be called customer service. I also was not told about that charge when I checked out at the front desk. No receipt (I went through Priceline), no mention of the charge, nothing. There are a lot of nice hotels in West Des Moines. We will not be going back to this one.
