The Ramada Tropics Resort and Conference Center Des Moines features an indoor water park with two tube slides, a 40 foot pirate ship, adult lap pool, and hot tub. Much improved

This hotel has been under construction for quite some time - but the result is well worth it. Fully remodeled rooms, large screen TVs, and a Waterpark are all included in the price. Very good hotel for the price. Not a great Business hotel as there are kids running up and down the hallways on their way to the waterpark. Room 267 is particulary bad as the inside door is next to a vending area where people gather. And the outside window is next to the outside entrance where other people gather to smoke. The Waterpark is great for the younger ones. But 14+ year olds will get bored quickly. Still, you get 4 wristbands so the younger ones love it.

Ok for an older hotel.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and the rooms where ok. They did have 2 entrances to the room which made it nice for loading and unloading the car. The bad thing was the carpet was constantly damp around the outside door. The swiming area was nice and clean. The restraunt was nice but a little pricey. Our overall all stay was good. We would go back if we was in the area.

WE STAYED IN THE RAMADA INN , DES MOINES, IA 2 NIGHTS. WE PAID MIN RATE AND IT WAS GREAT. THE LAST MOTEL WE STAYED IN FOR THIS PRICE WAS NOT FIT FOR HUMAN NOR MY PET. THIS MOTEL ALLOWED PETS AND WAS VERY CLEAN, SMELLED NICE. WE FELT A GREAT VALUE. THANKS FOR KEEPING IT CHEAP AND NICE. WE WILL DEFINATELY STAY AGAIN AS WE PASS THROUGH ON OUR BUSINESS TRIPS.
 
 
 
 
 
Okay, but leaves a bit to be desired

The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly. However, there are a lot of rooms that catch the noise from the indoor pool and ours was right by the conference rooms and they played music constantly (even at 2:30AM)and it was just like having a radio on it your room that you couldn't turn off. The halls were a little dingy-not actually dirty, just so old they always look dirty. The location was pretty good-lots of restaurants nearby and the mall just a mile away. For the price, it could've been a lot worse.

Run down hotel - phone rates = robbery

Hotel is the most run down Holiday Inn I have ever seen. Carpet is extremely worn and comming up in big ridges off the floor throughout the hotel. Pool plaster is flaking in big chunks and falling to the bottom of pool while deck pebbles are decayed and stick to bottom of feet again coming off in pool and ending on bottom which hurt feet to walk. No kidding. Rest of hotel in similar disrepair. I called my wife to tell her about how my son was doing in the disc golf tournament I was in town attending and later find out I am charged an avg. rate of over a dollar a minute for my calls to NC form Iowa. Stay away from this place. I read some other reviews - the staff was nice, but those who commented on the facility must be hotel employees or staying at a different place !
