NASTY PLACE! DO NOT STAY AT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/10
I stayed with my family for a Valentines day getaway with the kids and thought having a nice dinner and swimming would be fun...I was so wrong! The food was so over priced and it was FREEZING in the restaurant and hotel! We complained and they said that they only turn the heat on the lower level b/c there isn't enough ppl there to heat the top floor?! Are you kidding?! and of course our room was on the top floor! We made them move us to the lower level, so we wouldn't freeze to death when we walked out of out room into the hallway! That room had bugs and a trail of ants! Once again they said. "It's winter what do you expect?!" "They come in for warmth." Going to the pool, it was FREEZING! The pool is only divided by a glass that only goes down half way and all the outside water is coming into the inside area! We couldn't swim. The pool area and hot tub area were just a mess. There were all these ppl there that were not staying, they were with others that were staying there. That was annoying. Going back to our room, my son laid down on the bed and I looked down and there was this huge BLOOD trail going down the side of the bed!!! I freaked out! grabbed him and yelled to my Husband get our stuff we are leaving now! We got the kids out of there and my Husband made them give our money back to our card, and got out of there! After new ownership I went back with a friend to the bar area and everything was still horrible, new management didn't matter, it was a run down dumpy place. The dock had fallen in for cryin out loud! A lady I worked with, used to work there and she said she quit because it was so nasty. During the Summer it is nothing but a big drunken fest there. DO NOT go there with your family during fourth of July...Everyone is drunk 24/7 in the lobby, bar, restaurant, pool, grounds, parking lot, it is so unfit for kids to be around. There is nothing to do around it at all anyway, so my advice is to go to the homewood suites on 37! They are awesome! and its so nice!

Stay somewhere else!
By Fountain Pilot, 07/06/09
This is a Want To Be resort. I will be staying at Eagle Pointe Resort next time. It is right down the street. The restaurant is better and there is golf on site. We would have stayed on our boat but the service department at the four winds was worthless.

the staff was very rude and not helpfull at all,,rooms were moldy and dirty, food and empty glasses in the hallway and pool area.as a travel guide booking agent for charter buses i have been to some bad resorts ect. this one is one of the worst, right next to some in mexico.i will be taking this (resort ?) off my list,,was very upset and dissapointed, was not even offered a refund and the manager was very rude and tried to charge an early check out fee for leaving early, Do not stay here

CLOSED DUE TO TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/08
What I don't like about the facility is that it is closed and it is still listed on every hotel web page.

Stay Away! This place is terrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/10/08
The night we stayed (March 2007) this hotel had a youth basketball league (parents and siblings included) there. The place was overrun with many, many unruly loud children. The management seemed not to care that these brats were running amok and screaming at the top of their lungs until early in the am. Forget about getting anywhere near the pool. To top it off, the adults in the room next door (part of this basketball bunch) were smoking pot on the balcony during the night. The smell permeated our room. I went to the front desk, but no one was around. For hours. We checked out as soon as we could the next morning. I wrote a letter to them, with no response.

Is this in Indiana?
By leonard, 08/25/07
It's easy to critisize anything. However, given the price, location, and most friendly staff, I couldn't be more pleased. If you are looking for a fast paced, high priced, elegant cuisine, etc. this might not be the place for you. However,if you are looking for a laid-back, resort style atmosphere, this might be just what you're looking for. The kitchen might be a little slow, but the entire atmosphere is like the islands. Take your time here, and you will have a ball. Miniture golf, basketball, jacuzzi, indoor/outdoor pool, lounge, , restaurant, beautiful grounds make for a great relaxing time. The rental dock is just outside the door and has absolutely anything you can want available for a great day on beautiful Lake Monroe. The lakeside rooms have great lake views with decks or patios complete with picnic tables outside your door. Minutes away from Indiana University with restaurants of every kind and great culture, the Fourwinds is ideally located. If you're ready to slow down and be treated as a special guest, you won't be dissapointed.

Most relaxing experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/06
This hotel is, with respect to Indiana, one of a kind. It is a lake-side hotel. The grounds are beautifully kept; they must pay the landscapers a LOT! The front desk staff was nice and helpful. The bar staff was friendly and extremely fun. My bartenders, Tommy and Tom (wierd, huh), were fantastic. They kept my drinks full and my food prompt. Very entertaining guys too... Drink prices were fair (not like in NY) and the DJ knew what he was doing! I'm definitely coming back and I'm bringing my entourage.

Very dissapointed
By Brian, 07/02/05
The service was very bad. Nobody seemed to care about anything. It took 30 minutes to order drinks at the lounge and another 30 minutes for the food. Will NOT go back and would not recommend to anyone. We actually left a day early and had to talk them out of giving us a early leave fee.
