Expensive internet, drinks, and the wrong bed.
By ,
My girlfriend got a Price Line $100 room. We were promised a king sized bed. Instead they put us in a room with two full sized beds. They have expensive charges to use the internet. We ordered drinks in the restaurant because the bar was to loud with bad dance music. Three drinks cost over $43. If you don't considered yourself a high roller, stay away.

Checking our calanders for the next get-a-way
By ,
The Fairmont was a treat for my husband and I. We have stayed at other equivalent in ratings hotels in the River North area previously. By far, the Fairmont overwhelmingly outshines the others. The first is the location. It was extremly convenient for us to take the Metra into the city. The Millineum stop is literally right at the hotel. We chose to spend our money elsewhere as opposed to the expensive parking that downtown Chicago commands. We spent time at the Chicago Theater. We walked there from our hotel. We also spent time at the Grand Luxe- which we walked back to our room from. Yolk, a great breakfast eatery is easily with-in walking distance, too. The hotel itself was stunningly beautiful! Its decor boasted an upscale chic feeling that was not over done. Our king suite was on a corner which offered a fantabulous view of the city- including Navy Pier. Our room did back up to the elevators, so upon the occaisional usage of the toilet area (only), you could hear the elevator zipping behind you. Speaking of which, the wait for an elevator was non-existant! There was a bed turn-down service where the forecasted weather for the next day was left bedside. It was nice, but I prefer not to have anyone in my room while I am not there. We will use the do not disturb sign next time. Did I mention that the rate was very reasonable? Well it was! The entire staff was very helpful and pleasant. We felt appreciated the moment we walked up the semi-circle entrance. Overall, we were both pleased and are looking for any excuse to visit this hotel again.

Stunned at how bad experience was
By ,
After staying at pricey hotels for a while now, thought this place might be ok. Wrong. Horrible from the moment you enter. They 'over-booked' king rooms (how does that happen) and said it had to be two doubles. $51 a night for parking, charge for business center, charge for internet, charge to work out, the sushi place on site was not good either. I have had better sheets at every hotel I have stayed at that is upscale. I found two things I would say are great, the elevators are remarkably fast and the view was great. They could not even get the front doors to work half the time, seriously I was surprised they did not charge for using a towel. The water pressure... ok there was no water pressure in the shower however when you flushed the toilet it sounded like a jet plane came through your room. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever! Spending your money wisely, I have paid a lot more for other places when traveling but at least they were worth it.

I needed a coke!
By ,
Great corner room on the 33rd floor facing NE. Could see Chicago River and Lake MI from the windows. Awesome bed. Loved the bath products. The problem? Stuck in a room in the evenings and alone in the city, didn't want to wander too far this time. No vending machines on the floors -- just ice. A coke set me back $5 PLUS taxes included the new carbonation tax. So bring your own snacks and drinks becuase you won't want to order them from in-room dining or the bar! In-room dining was crazy expensive -- $39 for a cobb salad and a tea. Nearly $50 for a burger with soup instead of fries. Craaaazy! Speedy elevators, great bellmen. In spite of the awesome room, I was surprsed that they missed some of the finishing details in my bath. The nail holes hadn't been filled in and painted over so it looked like a carpenter might return to finish... but the reno was long since over. Odd, huh? Loved it though... would stay again if needed but not on my own dime.

Convenient to everything
By ,
What I liked about the Fairmont was the Aria Restaurant. It was wonderful, the service was 5 star. The concierge Rikki was the best. She was very friendly and knew what she was talking about and very very helpful. Take a ride in the house car, the Bently. Wonderful car and the driver was very nice. The location was convenient to Millenium Park, the museums, walking distance from Michigan Avenue (The Magnificient Mile) and the Navy Pier. The one thing I did not like about the hotel, was I had to call each day and ask for our room to be cleaned. We were out of our room by 9am every day and would return about 4pm and the room still hadn't been cleaned. The coffee pot was an expensive one, but no where to plug it in unless you wanted to move the whole thing somewhere inconvenient. Wanted to take a bath and it was dirty. Overall, I would recommend this place as long as you are aware to be on the look out to ask for your room to be cleaned and clean the bathtub before you want to take a bath. There was no pool, spa or gym unless you wanted to use the health club that was attached to the hotel for 20.00 per day. They said they were in the process of building a spa though.

We can't wait to go back!!!
By ,
It was beautiful. All of the staff were very freindly. And the bed was so comfortable. The rooms had very nice views. I was there for a company party and the banquet was excellent. The food was superb. I will definately be visiting again. Hopefully very soon.

Embarassing room
By ,
I stayed at the Fairmont while on business. The trip began with me checking in with Emilie who recommended several dining options. The staff (Kevin, Tim) were well-informed and gracious. The room was another story. Stains on the carpet, drapery askew and just a general wreck. I didn't call to complain, but I intend on staying somewhere else my next stay. I felt embarassed inviting my Chicago friend to the room due to the state of it. Embarassing!

Awesome Hotel!!
By ,
My boyfriend and I visited Chicago for Valentine's Day and we stayed at the Fairmont. The hotel staff was extremely nice and helpful in giving us directions to places around the city. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The beds were amazingly comfortable!! The location is good, it's about a 5-10 minute walk to Michigan Ave and all the shops. I would definitly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to go to Chicago for a fun and relaxing trip. I will surely come back again!!
