Bad Experience
By Tatiana, 10/2/09
I chose to take my 2 year old daughter and myself on a vacation to the Holiday Inn in Rolling Meadows on September 29th-October 1st. Years ago my own mother used to take me annually and it always was a very pleasant experience. This time around I found it to be very disappointing. First of all after checking in, the front desk attendant told me which door to enter, which was 3I. Well, as I grabbed most of my bags and my daughter, we walked to the door and soon found out there was no way to enter; the door key card scanner was missing and loose wires were hanging out. As an inconvinience, I had to drag my bags and my daughter UP the stairs to the closest entrance, just to go back down once inside to get to our room. None of the games in the game room was plugged up/working. When I went to the front desk to obtain a basketball I was given one that was ripped and low on air. While swimming, there were numerous live insects swimming with us. BUT, the topping on the cake had to be the live mouse that was running around inside our hotel room, #182. I immediately called the front desk, they sent a man and he asked if I wanted to stay in the room. That, to me, was an asinine question. Why would I want to stay in a room that has a rodent running around? His response in his walkie talkie was..."She wants another room because they are scared." It was not the fact that I was scared, more because I was disgusted. I was moved to the 4th floor. My daughter was traumatized my the experience. She no longer wanted to swim because of the bugs and when we got moved to the new room she constantly asked, "Mommy where's the mouse?". She rarely got off the bed unless it was to use the bathroom. With all that being said, the Holiday Inn/Holidome in Rolling Meadows used to be a childhood favorite of mine and I figured I would share a little of that happiness with my own daughter, when in the end it only turned out to be a disappointing, traumatic experience.

Great Stay!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/09
The hotel has all the amenities to make this a good family hotel. It is very clean and a good layout. The ballroom/meeting rooms are separate from the rooms (as is the restaurant). You are close to the airport and the multiple shuttles make it very convenient. The restaurant is very good and reasonably priced. My daughter loved the hotel - I would stay here again. The staff were friendly and helpful .

This hotel was an awesome value and a great places to stay. The whole hotel is beautifully decorated and the pool is amazing. We enjoyed the pool . This is a great place to unwind and its access to the highway system makes it a good launching place for outdoor activities.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/09
I would not recommend a stay in this hotel to anyone. Our experience was disappointing. We made one night “Get away and swim” reservation. When I checked the website I see that they offer a package called the LegoLand package the deal was supposed to include 4 tickets to LegoLand, one free pizza and pitcher of soda, and a free in room movie rental. This sounded like a great package deal and the kids would certainly enjoy LegoLand and swimming. When we checked in a 3:30 PM they did not have LegoLand tickets for us. They said they would go get some and deliver them to our room. We thought, not a problem we will swim today and go to LegoLand tomorrow when we have more time. We went to our room changed and went swimming. At the swimming pool we ran into Michael whose job was to make sure everyone using the facilities had on a proper wristband. I had not intended to swim so I was still in my street clothes including my shoes. All the kids had on the wristband but I did not. I was told my Michael that he was walking around the pool and if he got back to me and I didn’t have my wristband me and my family would not be able to use the facilities anymore during our stay. I told him that was ridiculous, I am a paying customer after all and they all had on wristbands. I ended up getting my band on. It was raining outside and our walk back to the room was an obstacle course of buckets ever few feet catching the leaks from the roof, as well as walking through the wet carpet. Only three games in the arcade actually worked. We got back to our room and ordered our free pizza, just to be told you have to be in the restaurant and order and adult meal to for the free pizza to work. Annoyed but hungry we went to the restaurant and ate. On our way back I stopped at the front desk and asked about our LegoLand tickets. They said they tried to deliver them but couldn’t and gave me an envelope with my four tickets in it. In the room we tried to see what we could rent only to find out our TV didn’t work properly. We called front desk and they sent up maintenance. The maintenance guy said it would be 40 minutes to fix the box. Since we were getting TV channels and not the pay per view that was part of our package I decided it was not worth sitting for 40 minutes while this guy tore up our room trying to replace a convertor box so I told him never mind. After he left I looked behind the TV to see if I could see what was wrong with the box and found just the computer board of the box. There was NO box protecting it our us from touching it. I also found that it was unplugged. I plugged it in and viola we had the pay per view part. The next morning when I was checking out, I had been billed for the movie rental and had to ask the front desk to remove it from my bill. They did no problem, but if it was part of the package shouldn’t have been on the bill to begin with. While standing there I looked at the LegoLand tickets they gave me. It said on the ticket purchased 7 March 4:39 PM, expires 7 March. Well it is now the 8th of March. I asked the front desk about it and she told me it was a use it or lose it policy, there was nothing she could do about it. it didn’t matter that I didn’t get the tickets until almost 8 PM on the 7th and LegoLand stops selling tickets at 5 and closes at 7. I never had a chance to go there with them. I talked to the manager who called the accounting person and then called his boss and then called the general manager before he refunded me back the face value of the tickets, which was of course less than what I ended up paying because I don’t have a deal with LegoLand. I will never stay in the facility again nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

Credit Card Fraud
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/09
I made New Years Eve reservations in November at the 877 number and paid in full for all 3 of our rooms. Day before check-in I called to ask about check-in time and they went to look up my reservations and said I only had one room. I told them I paid in full for all 3 rooms already and had the bank statement to prove it. So they told me to bring it with at check-in. NYE comes and I bring my statement with and they check us in and apologize for the inconvenience. We had a great time. We check out and the next day I find that I have been charged AGAIN for 2 more rooms! Then I see that somehow another Holiday Inn which I never reserved or stayed at charged me 306.00 four more times!!! So I reported fraud to my credit card company. Upon calling both Holiday Inns nobody that could help me was in on a Friday?? Was told to wait till Monday to deal with it!!! I will NEVER make reservations with a Holiday Inn again! Their credit card security is nonexistant. Very scary experience!
