Bad Experience
I chose to take my 2 year old daughter and myself on a vacation to the Holiday Inn in Rolling Meadows on September 29th-October 1st. Years ago my own mother used to take me annually and it always was a very pleasant experience. This time around I found it to be very disappointing.
First of all after checking in, the front desk attendant told me which door to enter, which was 3I. Well, as I grabbed most of my bags and my daughter, we walked to the door and soon found out there was no way to enter; the door key card scanner was missing and loose wires were hanging out. As an inconvinience, I had to drag my bags and my daughter UP the stairs to the closest entrance, just to go back down once inside to get to our room. None of the games in the game room was plugged up/working. When I went to the front desk to obtain a basketball I was given one that was ripped and low on air. While swimming, there were numerous live insects swimming with us. BUT, the topping on the cake had to be the live mouse that was running around inside our hotel room, #182. I immediately called the front desk, they sent a man and he asked if I wanted to stay in the room. That, to me, was an asinine question. Why would I want to stay in a room that has a rodent running around? His response in his walkie talkie was..."She wants another room because they are scared." It was not the fact that I was scared, more because I was disgusted. I was moved to the 4th floor. My daughter was traumatized my the experience. She no longer wanted to swim because of the bugs and when we got moved to the new room she constantly asked, "Mommy where's the mouse?". She rarely got off the bed unless it was to use the bathroom. With all that being said, the Holiday Inn/Holidome in Rolling Meadows used to be a childhood favorite of mine and I figured I would share a little of that happiness with my own daughter, when in the end it only turned out to be a disappointing, traumatic experience.
