We Loved Our 4 BR House
By Patricia, 12/06/09
We rented a 4 br home. This is the third year in a row that we have rented this home, and we love it. All the rental homes' bedrooms have their own bath. They all have well-stocked kitchens. Towels are offered each day. We forgot to turn off the coffee pot, called them from town, and they offered to send housekeeping over to turn it off. We have rented homes now for 5 years for our group, and we have not been disappointed. Actually, I take that back. One year, the ladybugs REALLY got into the home as well as the hot tub, and they refunded some of our money. The service and the amenities are the reasons we continue to return. If you have a group of 5 or more, rent a house - it's cheaper than staying in the rooms. You can't beat Galena for beauty and fun. It's got history, beauty, shopping, golf, and restaurants. It's in the NW section of Illinois, and in the winter, you can ski. We are flatlanders from Chicago, so gorgeous, rolling hills are a good thing!

Beware of reservation conditions. . .
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/04/08
This resort charges your credit card as soon as you reserve your room and will not refund this if you cancel. However, you can down grade your room for a $35 fee, 7 days ahead of your trip

not a good time
By sally, 07/16/08
The ride to the resort was great but the room was not what we had in mind. The carpet had spots, the bathroom was so small you had to step in the tub to close the door, we had killed 3spiders in one night and the housekeeping knocked on the door at 9am.We had no frig. or micr in this room. For the money, we have had better places in our trips. Would not go back.

Misleading Information
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/08
On the Eagle Ridge Inn and Resort website, they offer "edeals." Despite clearling indicating these deals for certain dates, when I attempted to make a reservation, they said they did not have any availability at the advertised rate.

weeked hotel in the midwest
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/07
Great beds! Rooms were a little small for the price and bathrooms need a overall, but the furnishings were fine. View was great..Nice place to hike. Food was not so great, eat in town.

You will want to come back again and again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/04/06
We have stayed at Eagle Ridge numerous times over the years. We have had experience staying in both the Inn rooms as well as in the Villas. The Inn rooms are convenient to all of the resort ammenities (restaurants, spa, swimming pool, marina/bike rentals, playground, tennis courts). The rooms are well-sized and appointed, although the bathrooms are a little small. Rooms that have views of the lake are worth the extra money. You will enjoy the peacefulness of the lake on your private balcony. The Villas are individually owned units that are rented out through Eagle Ridge. These are nicely-sized townhouses with full kitchens, living areas with fireplaces, and private patios with BBQs. Decor will depend on the individual owner. The ones we have stayed at are fairly well-decorated, most with a country flair. All the ones we have stayed in have overlooked one of the golf courses. Only drawback of the villas is that you will have to (most likely) drive to the Inn to take advantage of those ammenities. Eagle Ridge as an overall resort is beautiful. The rolling hills are beautiful and make you forget you are in Illinois for a while. You will enjoy driving around the property looking at the unique privately owned homes. It is also great to walk/hike and the front desk will give you well-marked maps of the various trails around the property. There is a lot to do at the resort. Besides the indoor pool, tennis courts and playground for the kids, there is golf. There are 4 golf courses, 3 18-holes and one 9-hole. The golf is amazing and first-class. The greens are in top-notch condition and the views from the course of the surrounding countryside make for a wonderful golf experience. Stonedrift Spa, located in the Inn, is also worth visiting. The spa treatments I have received there have all been amazing and the technicians are well-trained and professional. There is also a horseback riding stable on the resort. This is also an enjoyable way to view and appreciate the landscape. Kids will enjoy the pool, playground and horseback riding. The Inn also offers a Kids Club program, we have never taken advantage of it so I have no opinion on that. This could be great if the parents want to take advantage of the golf courses if they are there with small children. The restaurants are pretty good, not the best I have ever had but they are a good choice if you do not feel like driving into downtown Galena for a meal. Woodlands, the main restaurant, has an elegant feel and lovely views of the lake from its expansive windows. There is also a bar area attached to Woodlands as well as a small pizza/snack/ice cream shop. Overall, this resort is one that will keep you coming back again and again. There is just a unique feel to this resort and area that is friendly, peaceful and welcoming. The short drive from Chicago is another reason you will want to come back. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who wants a relaxing vacation in the midwest.

Addicting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/06
Eagle Ridge has been around for a while. Our family always looks forward to and loves our stays at the Inn, villas & resort homes (we've tried all of them). FYI: The resort used to be called Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort. It's now called Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa. Don't be confused, they are the same thing. Pros: *Extremely relaxing. *Lots of things to do - visit downtown Galena, play any of their 4 golf courses (which are some of the best in Illinois), fishing, horseback riding, dining, swimming, tennis, boating. *Excellent customer service from booking till departure *Lots of lodging options Cons: *A little pricey

We will be coming back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/04
The only thing I didn't like about the villa was that nothing was on the street level. My husband and I both have bad knees and it was very hard having to use the stairs all the time. Everything else was wonderful.
