Great for the price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/14/10
We have stayed there twice and were satisfied both times. The hotel is conveniently located and the rooms worked out OK. This is not the Weston but it is also not $400 a night either. The economy rooms are the really small ones and they are really small. There is limited on site parking but there is a public lot about one block away with unlimited in and out access. Breakfast was fine and if you don't like the choices there are a lot of local restaurants near by. I intend to stay there again in the next few weeks

Old Charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/18/10
I recently stayed at the Inn at Lincoln Park and the hotel had a very old charm about it. The rooms were small and dated, but were also clean and very comfortable. I was taken back in time as the hotel had a Vicotrian look and feel.

What a DUMP!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/09
The hotel rates were extremely to high and inexcusable for the condition of the hotel. You would like to compare this hotel on the level of a Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Days Inn .... but - not even close! IT WAS A DUMP! The rooms are very small, the bed was hard, the bathroom was insufficient. If you are looking for a DUMP! you found it at the Inn on Lincoln Park. And, they are going to charge you an unbelievable high nightly rate for a DUMP! If you are staying at this hotel because of location. My suggestion - stay further away and get a taxi. You will be a lot happier. What a DUMP!

Charmed!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/1/09
This hotel is near our daughter's apartment so, after reading several of these reviews, we were prepared for the worst when visiting at Christmas. It was absolutely a charming experience. The staff was gracious and professional. The room was tiny, but clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom also was clean. We were pleasantly surprised.

Unfriendly Staff
By Sally, 11/12/08
We're never staying at that place again! My cousin and I were forced to stay here, because Chicago was booked everywhere else. First of all the girls working the front desk made it seem as if we were bothering them by checking in. We spent 2 nights there and all the other times we walked by the front, the employees had boys hanging around them while they were working, which again shows unprofessionalism. The area of Chicago where the hotel is located is cute; but far from the museums, Magnificent Mile and all other tourist attractions, so we spent a lot of cab fare. This hotel is very outdated, bathrooms, TV, furniture, and the blankets even seemed as if they were from the 1960’s. This also made the hotel seem dirty. After leaving the hotel I thought maybe I left some things behind so a week later we called the front desk. The girl who I spoke with was a complete you know what!! I couldn't remember the room number so I guessed. She checked that room and nothing. When I asked her to verify that that was the room we stayed in she gave me attitude. When we found out what room it was she put me on hold for 8 minutes to check! I also asked her if she could contact me if it showed up and she said "It would have been turned in by now" and practically hung up on me! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great Chicago location!
By Patricia, 10/21/08
My dad and I went to Chicago to revisit his childhood home. We weren't expecting much from this hotel after reading the reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. This hotel is very old, and unfortunately, it will be torn down in a few years. Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable. Our requests were taken care of promptly. Staff was pleasant. The location was EXCELLENT. Parking was convenient. FREE breakfast included an assortment of cereals, donuts, bagels, muffins, and, if you wanted, sausage, bacon, eggs to microwave yourself. Coffee and juices were also available. In the lobby, hot water for tea and coffee were always available along with some apples. Cookies were there in the afternoon. A fabulous little ice cream shop was right next door! There was a free internet connection in the lobby too. This may be only a two star hotel, BUT they gave five star service. Everything was neat and clean. Not particularly fancy, but very adequate. Our room had a small refrigerator, coffee pot, and a window air conditioner (which we did not need). I have no complaints and would not hesitate to return.

Everything was shabby except the price -- $143.00
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/08
At the time I made the reservation I was told the room was small but they failed to mention pealing paint, rusty bathtub, lamp cords taped together, radiator with all kinds of weird wires sticking out of it, flat pillows, dirty carpet . . . get the picture. Fortunately, it was only one night but it's hard to sleep when you're worried about how many fire codes are being violated and the smoke detector looks like it's ready for the Smithsonian. I've traveled on four continents and this was one of the worst hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. I prefer small, boutique-style hotels to chain hotels, but I also expect the hotel to be clean and safe -- this was neither. I wouldn't stay here again for free!!!

would not stay here again.
By TwiggyL, 9/22/08
Everything about this hotel was awful. I was upgraded and the room was so small we were left laughing at we were upgraded FROM. No hot water, 3 channels, rude staff, dirty rooms, no toilet paper and it took 4 calls to get some, ignoring of do not disturb sign on door, lightbulbs out in half the lights... I could go on and on. DO NOT SAY HERE.

what was I thinking?!
By Bella, 8/23/08
The only good thing I can say about this place is it has a great location not far from the lake and in the heart of one of the busiest and trendiest places in the city. The rooms are TINY, bathrooms as well, it is in serious need of being updated all around. I really can't see taking a vacation, even for a long weekend, and staying here. There are so many better places in Chicago, albeit more expensive. I suppose in this case you do really get what you pay for. If you just need a clean bed to sleep in and don't care about being cramped in a room smaller than a studio in NYC, this hotel is fine. If you actually want a comfortable place to stay, I would look elsewhere.

I had a great time here!
By Janine, 7/11/08
After reading the reviews, I was unsure about staying here. However, I ended up having a wonderful experience at this hotel! The room was small, but they told me that upfront when I made the reservation. I was taking a class at DuPaul and I got a special rate (there were lots of people staying there that were taking classes at different schools in the area). The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The water pressure was good and I had plenty of hot water. The hotel is old and the decor is older, but really beautiful. It reminded me of a European hotel. The breakfast room was lovely and there was a nice array of food to choose from. I was able to find new things to eat for the entire week that I stayed. When I came back from my class, they had cookies and coffee/tea, which was a nice touch. The area is wonderful- lots of good restaurants and shopping, and very safe. My room was quiet- I didn't hear street noise or noise from other rooms, even though the Cubs were playing at home and were on a winning streak. And the staff was very friendly and helpful- no problems there! And there is a computer where you can access the internet for free. Just because the hotel is old doesn't mean it is bad. This isn't a luxury hotel, but very much like a European hotel, and I loved the atmosphere.
