Don't Stay Here Regardless of How Cheap it is!
By ,
There was no hot water in my room and despite management's assurances they would send someone to fix it, they never did. After my second day of staying at Aqua Palms (out of four days), I stopped counting the number of bugs I found in the room. The bed felt like concrete -- I have never slept on such a hard bed in my life. I left my blackberry and assorted pictures in my hotel room when I checked out; they claimed that they didn't have them. The elevators are hopelessly slow -- I once waited almost 10 minutes for it to come. I would rather not go to Hawaii if the only choice of hotels I had was this one.

You must be kiding me
By ,
We just came back from Hawaii, everything is perfect but Aqua Palms Hotel is the major negative for the whole trip. Room is not clean and while we stayed there, there is no hot water for shower. When we complained to the manager, not only she didnt seem to care but the attitude is the worst I have ever seen. Dont take the chance to ruin your vacation. Stay away from this hotel.

This place is a dump. Run away, fast.
By ,
Very old building, the place is a joke; it's like living in a warehouse. Deceptive prices on parking, dirty walls, carpet, ceiling, etc. I've seen cleaner Motel 6's.

I wouldn't go back here.
By ,
Reading all the reviews...looks like lots of people think this place is a good value. NOT ME! We stayed 5 nights there. Had a king bed, the TV was up on the ceiling (not great for bending our necks!). Our coffee pot was never emptied or cleaned. The maid left her cleaning rag, didn't replace with clean glass in the bathroom one night. The sink was clogged (slow going down). The rattan chairs were uncomfortable, and 2 people really were squashed sitting in the room...not too much room to turn around! We NEVER saw any "continental breakfast" in the lobby. And thought it was ridiculous to pay for coffee from that "machine". It should have been free. The "ice room", which should have been our floor (signs were posted) (6th floor)---had a typed sign telling us to go to the parking level, where the ice machines are located. Again, not user-friendly, having to wait for an elevator just to get ice! The parking spaces were tiny as well as the ramps were narrow...had to be careful! Also, they charged $18/day to park! I guess they had to, since this was very near downtown Waikiki. We had "free complimentary" parking when we went to Maui! The carpeting in the hallways was filthy! This was our first time in Oahu. I booked this hotel just by researching reviews at different sites, and picked it. Gosh! What an experience! I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL!

Great place to stay in Waikiki
By ,
We loved this hotel! Staying here helped make our visit to Honolulu memorable and helped make us fall in love with Hawaii. This hotel is close to Waikiki (walking distance to the beach) but not as pricey as those you find directly on it. Tons of stuff nearby to walk to. Helpful place to stay when you want to visit all of the shops and restaurants on Waikiki. People were very friendly and accommodating, and the room was very nice and clean. Perfect for us! We would stay here again.

LOVE LOVE LOVE
By ,
We (husband and I) went here as our first official vacation, ever. Was a little worried not being a mature travler. But to my surprise the staff was beyond AMAZING! Anything and everything we asked about they were able to point us in the right direction. i asked about food, attractions, car rentals, activities, shopping, and transaltions of key phrases. Our room was very clean and adorable. The only flaw I found was a small stain in the bottom of the sink. There were also alot of things that many hotels dont have anymore, like bathrobes in the closet! The breakfast was very tastey, but was just pastries, cereal, juice (fresh made and local!), etc. The location, espeicially for the $$, is exceptional. The hotel details say its about 3 blocks to the beach, but walk thru the open-air parts of the hilton across the street and ur there in no time! Our room even had a partial view of the ocean, the hilton was expanding so may not have that anymore. the patio was small but perfect to sip some morning coffee and enjoy the air. We sat and thought about what we didnt like and honestly couldn't find anything! Would stay here again in a heartbeat and have reccommended to many friends/family memebers.

Ants, dingy and dim; but great price!
By ,
The price was great--under $100 and free dsl! However, upon entering room, ants were discovered on and around the kitchenette counter, drawers and floor which was located right inside the door to the room and right next to/in front of the bathroom! This totally ruined the stay. When reported to the front desk, they didn't offer to change the room, but offered to send up maintenance with bug spray! Maintenance came within a relatively short time (within 20 minutes or so)and was friendly, but laughed and smiled when he handed over the bug spray--couldn't really understand what he was saying, but it sounded something like, yeah, we have ants and he motioned above him like at the ceiling (or upper floors?!)! We then looked around for other ants and bugs and found something dead (a larger bug) on the carpet in front of the couch and sliding glass door to balcony. The couch fabric was stained and overall the lighting in the room was so dim, we couldn't easily locate other bugs--overally dingy, drab and stained! The room was "roomy" (we had just stayed a few days at the Waikiki Circle Beach Hotel which had REALLY SMALL rooms, BUT they were EXTREMELY CLEAN!!! At the low price - it is almost tempting to try and stay there again, but would really rather spend another $50 to have a clean, bright room with NO BUGS!

The place to stay for the rest of us
By ,
My wife and I booked this hotel when returning to Waikiki for the second time. It saved us $100 per night compared to the Hilton across the street and I much prefer the less pretentious feel of the place. The room is nice and clean. Our view is of other buildings and some surrounding mountains, but honestly, I don't spend a lot of time in the room when on vacation. There is an IHOP next door, a local bar with great specials next to that, and you have close access to anything the Grand Hawaiian offers in their little shopping area (starbucks, benihana, kobe steak, etc.) The shower/tub is tiny, but good hot water, there is a microwave, fridge, coffee pot, iron, high speed internet, flat panel 42" TV with about 75 channels or so. No breakfast included. Bed is comfortable but not wonderful. All in all, if I come back, I will come here again. It is exactly what we were looking for but for a much lower price, and removed from the noise of across the street at least by a hundred yards or so.

Roaches.. not as nice as the staff.
By ,
The hotel staff is great! Rooms were good size beds are not comfy. Good location if you are down to walk or jump in the cab to party in Waikiki. We were disappoingted because we notices roaches in our recent stay. The hotel is also situated on a busy street and it is pretty noisy during the day. Lighting in the rooms were poor which can be challenging if you are trying to get ready to go out. The staff was wonderful, however it was not worth us dealing with the roaches.

Helpful staff
By ,
I liked the fact that we were able to store our luggage at the hotel prior to checking in and also after we had checked out. It was a short walk to the convention center which allowed us to spend some hours enjoying the 2006 Hawaii Car Show before we had to leave for the airport. The only dislike I had was I would have liked another mirror in room (they only had the one in the bathroom). All workers (including housekeeping and maintenance) were friendly.
