might visit again
By shirley, 12/29/09
Had a problem with the room when we arrived but the manager immediately took care of the situation and it worked out with a better view for us...which was very nice! the restaurant staff was superb!! food was delicious!! the hotel staff on the other hand was rather rude..we are not seasoned travellers and perhaps do not know the proper travel etiquette but a little kindness and helpfulness goes a long way! the overall experience was a blast..would recommend it to friends....def. worth the time and money....overall i would rate the experience a 4 out of 5

Great value for the money
By Coconuts, 10/08/09
For the price, this property is a great value. Rooms have comfortable beds, flat screen TV's and mini fridges in the rooms. Hotel also has central AC instead of individual units, so no problems with noisy AC's. Hotel had a very pleasant pool area with shade trees. A great thing about the pool is that an alarm didn't go off if you brought a sandwich in from the outside. The property is very centrally located in the center of Waikiki accross the street from the beach. In the evenings there is a buffet with a Hawaiian show at the pool for $30 which is a deal for the area. When selecting a room, be sure to spring for partial ocean view or higher, as the property does have a number of street facing rooms which aren't so great. Plenty of places nearby for coffee and pastries in the AM, so no need to spring for the overpriced breakfast plan. For those who smoke, this is one of the few Honolulu hotels still offering smoking accomodations. Some mold issues in the bathrooms. If you can snag a corner room in the towers, go for it. We had 2162 and it had a killer view. Younger staff members especially helpful. We are a gay couple in our 40's and felt welcome. You will hear music at night from the entertainment, but this ends around 10PM.

Another trip to remember
By Sue, 09/30/09
I have been to Honolulu several times and I always stay at the Princess Kaiulani because the friendliness and efficiency of the staff is above and beyond other hotels as well as good food, great entertainment, nice rooms, beautiful view from our balcony, convenient to shopping and across the street from Waikiki beach. I can't ask for more and highly recommend enjoying your stay here.

Great Value for location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/13/09
Good accomidations & Great location, close to Beach, shopping & nightlife. You need to get it while you can as scheduled for remodeling in 2010 or 2011 & will be closed for 2 years. I wouldn't be surprised that with the remodel of the tall tower & replacement of the smaller tower's, the price will be more comparable with the expensive neighboring hotels. The same thing happened to the outrigger waikiki village & all of the other inexpensive hotels that used to be over between Lewers & Beachwalk that were turned into the Embassy Suites Beachwalk shopping center area. I hope that Sheraton keeps this as a somewhat moderatly priced hotel.

2 Years Later - Still Angry!
By Raptor Rider, 06/21/09
I stayed here 2 years ago and I'm still ANGRY! I booked a cruise with Norweigan Cruise Line thru my travel agent and decided to stay 3 extra days in Hawaii. He said he was putting us up in a very nice place - but what a disappointment. When the bus driver was dropping people off at places like the Hilton, I knew I could smell a rat. Apon arrival, things seemed okay but once in the room - WOW! Old, Old, and did I mention Old and Dirty? I couldn't believe this place had never been updated or if so it was way back in 1960. I had multiple black hairs in my bed, boogers on the walls of the bathroom, more black hairs in the entire bathroom. End tables were DIRTY, never wiped down from previous renters....YUCK! Finally an hour later the house keepers came up and changed the sheets but how could I sleep now knowing about someone elses hairs? No one bothered to clean the bathroom after we complained - they didn't care. Could hear people in next room having sex! Ruined the end of a really fun vacation. Would NOT recommend this and will NEVER stay here again. Shame on my travel agent, probably got a good cut on booking us here.

Affordable
By darkene2k8, 04/10/09
After 5 nights at Sheraton Waikiki I thought that Princess Kaiulani would be a disappointment but I was surprised to see that they had BIGGER room & bathroom. The atmosphere still had the ohana touch in it. Its not directly beside the beach side but crossing the street wont kill you. The view to chose from is either city or beach view. This time we took on the city view. The hotel is good access to the bus stop. Among the 3 Starwoods we staid at in Waikiki, Princess Kaiulani was definitly my favorite.
