The Best Hotel in Hawaii!!
By ,
I love the historic feel of the Royal Hawaiian -- if only it had a little more space far away from the shopping center. But, once you are in the courtyard, all of that traffic melts away. I love that you can step back into history and feel the glory days of Waikiki. This is one of the last places where you can walk in the footsteps of the Hollywood yesteryear and famous Hawaiians like Duke Kahanamoku.

Great view, close to lots of stuff
By ,
Got off to a bad start. We had been confirmed (with confirmation number) that we had a smoking room, then after a 13+ hour flight to get there, were told we did not. We ended up getting a smoking room, but with 2 double beds instead of 1 king size. In Hawaii, the older buildings do not have insulation between walls and the couple next door had toddlers that screamed from around 8:30 pm until midnight. The hotel is beautiful and right on the beach, and the staff was very nice but if we ever go again I would probably want to stay somewhere with newer construction. The views and beach access were great though and walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants and the International Market (just across the street), A very pretty hotel with a Casablanca-like charm.

Highly recommend the Royal Hawaiian.
By ,
Vacationing in Hawaii was a treat, but what made the icing on the cake was staying at The Royal Hawaiian. It was a trip without the kids, just husband and I. On our way to the hotel we passed up plenty of tall modernized constructed hotels. But when we arrived infront of The Royal H. it was breathtaking. I has an old style traditional exterior architect, surrounded by a beautiful garden. Everywhere you stand is a picture setting. As you step inside the lobby it is well decored with contemporary touch of large vases decorated with tropical plants and floral, widescreen painting on wall and a indoor-outdoor view of another garden. The staff was very friendly and waited us like royality. The housekeepers, bartenders, and waiters were all friendly and gave us the best service. The outdoor beachbar made the best Maitai's compared to other hotel beachbar there we visited. The Azure restaurant had the best Ribeye steak, compared to Wolfgang's Restaurant nearby. The suit we had was very much 5 star. We had two baconys from our bedroom: one given us the panoramic view of the beach and pool below, and the other bacony viewed the beautiful tropical garden and admiration of the hotels architect. The suit was spacious, clean, smell fresh and decor and furniture was tasteful. The only disappointment there was when we check out.:( ... I hope to return for the same experience The Royal Hawaiian gave me. It was worth the time and money spend there. Highly Recommended Visited July 2010.

We will never be staying there again!
By ,
My husband and I took our two children ages 17 and 13 on vacation to Hawaii. On most of our vacations, we stay at 5 star hotels like The Four Seasons, Ritz-Carltons, and Fairmonts. On our Hawaii vacation, we first went to Maui and staid at the Fairmont Kea Lani. It was an amazing hotel and we did not wan't to leave. But, we had something we were told to look foward to: our stay at The Royal Hawaiian. It is advertised as a five star hotel, so when we were told it was the premiere hotel in Waikiki we decided to stay there. We had a horrible experience. First off, when we arrived there was only one person at the check in counter and we had to wait in line for 15 minutes! During check in, we were given leis and juice. The man who put the leis around our neck did not say anything like "Welcome to Hawaii!" or "Welcome to the Royal Hawaiian!" He didn't even smile when he gave them to us! Then we made our way up to the room. The room was awfully small. My family of four was practically bumping into eachother left and right. There was no closet space and the bathroom was horrible! But, to make up for that we did have a wonderful view in the tower. On another bad note, most of the staff were snooty and greedy, especially the waitress at the beach grill. On a postitive note, the hotel has wonderful beach service. The beach boys were nothing but nice to my kids. They took surf lessons and the family did an outrigger canoe which was so much fun for the whole family. Also, the hotel is beautifully decorated and very pretty. As you can see, the positives DO NOT out weigh the negatives. We're used to staying at REAL luxury five star hotels like the Four Seasons. After you have stayed there, there is no way The Royal Hawaiian can even compare to The Four seasons. The Fairmont Kea Lani is only a 4.5 star hotel and had much better rooms and service. I'm sorry but when I pay for a five star hotel, I expect to to get be waited on hand foot, with five star service. That did not happen. We wil not be staying here ever again!

Want to go back.
By ,
My husband and I and our small son were there in Hawaii in the Air Force. When we left in March 1972 all I wanted was to spend one night in the Pink Lady when we were ready to leave. What a joy when we were took to a suite for a week. What a wonderful way to leave the Islands. How wonderful of the people he worked with in Admiral McCain's office. I long to go back. It was my most special time there. It is so many years ago but I still remember it all. Maybe one day we will get to do it again. ALOHA

.We were treated as if we were \"Royalty\".
By ,
I miss the Royal Hawaiian Hotel!! The most friendly, smiling, beautiful staff that I have ever met. From the gracious greeters and bell hops, who attended to all of our needs,Tammy, our concierge, who arranged our helicopter ride, rental car, Luau, and answered my many questions,to Juliette, charming " Barney" and all the other beach boys who gave us the ride of a lifetime in the outrigger canoe, and the pool staff, who assisted us in our cabana or umbrella around the pool or out on the beach. We looked forward to our nightly turn down service by vivacious Eveyln and her partner, smiling, friendly Clarence from room service, and happy, cheerful Mary who took our morning room service order. Everyone was so nice and warm and treated us as if we truly were "Royalty". The spectacular view from our private balcony of Diamond Head, the bright pink umbrellas and white cabanas surrounding the quiet and pristine pool and spa, the clean beach ,with the surfers on the turquoise blue water , and the multicolored sunsets ,was breath taking, never to be forgotten. The location is perfect with the peaceful, serene, exotic gardens separating one from the busy Kalakaua Ave, with it's top named stores, variety shops, resturants, International Marketplace and the city life, yet only moments away by foot. As I write this, I am reliving every moment and can actually still feel the tropical breeze on me as I walked through the open air Lanai, past the specialty shops , on the way out to the beach only steps away. I hope to return someday soon and would never consider staying anywhere else other than the "Pink Palace. I will always feel at home and very welcomed I'm sure at the five star diamond hotel, The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Thank you all for making our dream come true as you treated us as if we were "Queens" on your beautiful island of Paradise. I'm sorry it took me so long to write and express my gratitude and hope to return soon and say "Aloha"

There is no other place to stay!
By ,
This was our fifth time to Hawaii. We live in Chicago. The hotel is so nice. Historic and beautiful. The people are some of the nicest people we ever have meant. The staff is outstanding. The Tower room are nice, so you can view the beaches. With the sunsets and sunrises, Stay in one of these rooms and you will understand. It is outstanding. I would tell anyone to stay at the Greatest Hotel, The Royal Hawaiian!

I love it
By ,
I love everything thire. Beautiful Scenery, lovely Suites, Pananormoric View of ocean and spectacular destination. A gorgeous paradise palace is where I would like to go again and again. Every room has a cup of luxairy with detail of craftsmenship plus the least crowdiest beach in Waikiki and close to the most expensive shops.
